Not one of Jana's more inspired workouts. Plus, I was feeling a smidge tired. Not sure why. (?)

So, right before the alarm went off I was having a dream that I was making a lasagna... and trying to decide whether to layer ice cream or sherbet in it. I chose ice cream... and I woke up!


I signed up for Steelhead today! Laughing Happy to be doing something different this year. I love Racine, but I think I'm due for a change of scenery.

The snow is coming down! Full force. Took me 2 hours to get home tonight. Some epic weird commutes lately. Couldn't figure out the problem, as it wasn't snowing when I left work. No reason to be going 4 miles per hour the whole way home... used the time to catch up with a couple of my friends, my Mom, and my friend Kathy... exchanged txt messages with regimom, and Katie and listened to my iPod. Tried to keep from gnawing on my arm... low sodium diet of vegetables and fruits leaves me achingly hungry by quittin' time. Am thinking I am missing protein. Maybe a couple of hard boiled eggs (YUK!) or some tuna in my future. Will have to check sodium content on canned tuna. Suspect it to be high. Frown


From the "I'M SO EXCITING, YOU WISH YOU WERE ME" files... I just organized my recipe box. Yup. Now my recipes are all in order.

RECOVERY DAY!

And I need it. Snow plows again... from 3:12 AM to 3:47 AM I was awake just listening to them. They sound like small tanks. Then they started up again around 5:30... and now it's 7:05 and I can hear them on the street behind me. They are these little bobcat things with plows attached to them and a bright floodlight on top. So not only do they whiiiiiiiiine, hum, and scrape, but they shine a light right into my bedroom, through my blinds!

And I think it's still snowing. Cry

 


Oh My. The forecast is not looking encouraging. 6-9 MORE inches tomorrow night? Really? Come on!? Would you like to share in my dismay? Check out this updating map...

In NON WEATHER RELATED NEWS: I'm considering racing STEELHEAD as my HIM this year, instead of Racine. I'd like to do something different. And something that my all gym friends aren't doing. There's a weird competitive vibe sometimes that I don't want to worry about. If I'm all the way in Michigan doing my own thing... I think it will be better for me mentally. Anyone done Steelhead? Doing it again? Thoughts? Opinions? Ideas?

I also broke into my Christmas gift from dumpster... bike wipes... and wiped down my whole drive train and frame, and lubed my chain. Whoop de dooooooo!

11:37 AM So, I've got the ribs cooking in the crock pot. These were highly recommended by BunnyRunner/Klondike... and I can't wait to see how they turn out! Trainer ride today... Miscellaneous errands to run... and then hopefully the ribs will be finished and I will transport them and some garlic mashed potatoes to dumpster's house so we can watch the SuperBowl on his HDTV. I want to be able to see the boogers in the players' noses! Hooray for HD!Surprised


And..... it's the Giants! A pretty good game, I must say. Ribs were good too! Although the mashed potatoes turned out to be a giant starchy ball. Not sure what went wrong there...

As you can see, there's not much difference between Z1 and Z3. :P Try as I may, I cannot get my HR to come back down. Put the incline down to .5, and slowed the treadmill down to 4.8 and STILL was hovering around 150. Bah!

5:05 AM: Snowplows all night long. In my driveway, in my neighbor's driveway, in the street... they all sounded like they were at the foot of my bed! Slept perhaps 1 straight hour. Now going to attempt Master's swim, and then work. So tempted to sleep in. SO tempted. But the plows are going again, and I probably wouldn't be able to sleep anyway... just lay there. Frown


8:31 AM: OK. Did it. 3600 in the bag! And I just found out my office isn't opening til 11 am at the earliest. It's still snowing here. Like measurably. Like crazy! I'm back at home, going to have some coffee and breakfast, watch some Oprah, and then check on the status of the office...

9:48 AM: UPDATE: A wave of responsibility came over me and I did my taxes instead of sitting in front of the TV with Oprah. I am getting $3000 back! Damn straight! Everything is finished and filed. Now I just wait for the cashola. Will probably have to start into the office soon. It's stopped snowing. DRAT.

Holy cats. Apparently I've never run 10:00/mile pace uphill before. 2% doesn't sound like much, but it's pretty sadistic.

Found out some strange news last night. Made me sort of sick to my stomach, actually. It's the kind of news that made a bunch of other things all suddenly make SENSE. Hmmmpf. I am a fortunate, smart, person. I count my blessings daily.

But today I'll count them twice.

My ex is re-married and his wife is pregnant.

There but for the grace of God (and several tough decisions, an off the cuff living arrangement, and a good divorce attorney) go I...

A new New Year's Resolution: Not give ((he who shall not be named)) any more brain time/space. He sucked the life force out of me for 10 years. I'm not giving him another moment. I fear I am addicted to buying swimsuits. I received my last "shipment" last night. That's it. I'm going COLD TURKEY. No more swimsuits. I only have one body. I only wear one suit at a time. It's fun to have lots of suits, but I'm sure there are better places I could be spending my money. I don't know why I feel compelled to purchase every cute swimsuit I see. But. I do. No more! Must stop now. Surprised
In other news: My low sodium diet seems to be working. My lower legs no longer retain water like they used to... and as I was sweating on the trainer, I noticed my sweat doesn't taste as salty as it used to... it actually just tasted like water. Weird. But I am taking this as a good sign.

OK, admit it. You know what your sweat tastes like too!!! You do! I know you do!
3:46 PM The Pina Colada song is on the radio... Isn't it strange how the guy answers that personal ad and goes to meet the chick and it turns out it's his own girlfriend? It's like he's cheating on her....with her. And she is too! God. The 70's were odd.
