  • Snorkeling

Snorkeling around Trunk Bay. It was pretty crowded today! Rented snorkels and fins and did fairly well, for only my second try at snorkeling. The first try was in Mexico with my girlfriends... in a little cenote. Not much to see there. Saw lots of great looking tropical fish here, though! WOW.

And the water is clear and blue-green. And not because of algae overgrowth. Hah. I've never seen such water.

And salty. Holy moly it's salty. I mean, I know it's SALTWATER and the OCEAN and whatnot, but it's salty. Very.

Scouted out the location for tomorrow's wedding. :) It's going to be beautiful.

No more thinking! No more chores! We're gonna be out and about... frolicking on Caribbean sands and getting married and whatnot. There will be very little thinking. I promise.... although, I must admit, Chris does like thinking... so it may be a little more difficult for him to stop... it wil be fairly easy for me. Really.

10:41 AM: I had a very good smoothie this morning. No fish oil. Hah. Fresh mangoes, Greek yogurt, frozen peaches, soy milk, a splash of water, goji berries, protein powder. The best one yet. Great consistency, great taste, and no weird fish-taste. I think I'm figuring this out!

1:38 PM: Partially packed. Packed during lunchtime, will do the rest after I sign off my work computer.

10:28 PM: Packed. Vacuumed the second floor. Cleaned the litterboxes downstairs (Orbit has been having a terrible time lately... he's been on antibiotics for his chin abscess and this is making him have liquid poo. All over the basement. I cleaned it up as best as I could, but I can't tell you how happy I am that I couldn't find new rugs for that litterbox area.) Blagh. No more Poo. Please.

Wrote out instructions for Katie and Trudy (even though they probably don't need them... I feel better writing them...) and cleaned as much as I humanly could, given the time available. Dishes are going in the dishwasher right now. I think I may be able to rest. If not now, then very very soon.

So much to do, so little time. Must get going. I will not be able to relax and enjoy myself or get really excited about the weekend until I am done working for the day, the house is clean, and my bags are packed... so... say.... like 10 PM tonight

Strength
  • 40m

Dynamic warm up first... then...

Shoulders. A bunch of stuff with the FREE MOTION MACHINES. My shoulders hate me now. Also did shoulder presses with free weights, lat pull downs (sorta, but not the same) and some other stuff for shoulders. Also these backward lunge things with one arm extended... I was very awkward on that on the right arm, but seemed to do better on the left.

Sport
  • Crossfit
  • 20m

So, according to MVG, this sorta how things are going to go down from here on out... we're going to lift a specific body part, or two, and then use the second half of the session to do Crossfitty type stuff. I don't know the names of any of this, but I will do my best to describe it.

4 rounds of this:

Take a 12 lb ball and start with it overhead. Bounce it against the ground as hard as you can, then catch it, lift it back over head and repeat. The first 5 or so were easy. The rest of them felt like MVG was trying to kill me.

Then we did something called Wrestle the Bear or Kill the Bear or Skin the Bear or "something with a bear". All I know for sure is that MVG made an ursine reference. I don't know what the words that preceded it necessarily were.

Then I had to hold a side plank for 30 seconds on each side. (Hah) Pathetic and noodly.

I am a mess during these workouts. An absolute mess. I sweat like a bull's ass. I grit my teeth, groan and generally pray for the sweet relief of death.

9:42 AM: I made the most revolting smoothie this morning... accidentally, of course... but still. I drank it. It included Greek yogurt, soy milk, frozen peaches, frozen blueberries, a scoop of protein powder, dried goji berries and... wait for it... FISH OIL CAPSULES. Ugh. The fish oil made the whole thing taste like a ground up fish carcass. I thought it would just get absorbed into the concoction and I wouldn't be able to taste it... but alas, this was not the case at all. I drank it anyway, though, trying not to gag the entire time. It tasted like blended fish flesh with the slightest hint of vanilla protein powder. Wrong. All wrong. I won't be doing that again.

And now I have fish oil burps. I may vomit. And for the record, I highly doubt a single one of my cats will follow after me to clean it up.

2:56 PM: I have MVG @ 5pm today and then a spray tan, all the way across town, at 6. That's never going to happen. I have changed my spray tan appointment to 6:45. I at least have a CHANCE of making it there very roughly on "time".

In other VERY exciting non wedding related news, the New Balance Minimus shoes I ordered yesterday afternoon arrived this morning. I paid $4 for regular shipping and handling. I am so very pleasantly surprised! Got them at www.shopnewbalance.com So pleasantly surprised!!!

4:37 PM: Heading over to MVG. Wish me luck. New shooz today! Woot!

Wedding Wednesday! (That's not an antenna!)

At any rate, I give you Chris and me, at AmyJo and Craig's wedding reception... after I caught the bouquet and he caught the garter...

Next... it's our turn!

April 10

2:25 PM: I just booked a stretch limousine to pick us up and take us to the airport! Woot! Hey, if you can't travel in style for your wedding, when can you!?

4:31 PM: Dammit. I forgot shoes today. I have no shoes to wear for my workout. Sent a text message to MVG to see what he would like me to do. I can buy a cheap pair of shoes from Kohls or something... Bah.  Frown

Hah. Not really. Not at the Palace, at least.

The Palace has become a feline vomitorium. Everytime I turn around, someone is barfing up a hairball, their last meal, or some other combination of fur & food. This is, of course, when someone's not peeing on a cabinet or in front of the litterbox or or... someplace else we've yet to discover. My happy kingdom went from delightful cat antics and nighttime frolicking to hairballs, yowling, urine soaked rugs, and the occasional cat fight, yielding tufts of fur all over the floor.

No, more cats does not equal more happiness... it just equals more cats. Perhaps things would be happier if I could teach these jerks how to yack on the hardwood floors. The carpet, I'm afraid, has seen better days. I run around with a bottle of NATURE'S MIRACLE in one hand and a tiny little scrub brush in the other... trying to clean up the messes as they occur. I'm not always sucessful. It could be a full time job, actually... but unfortunately, due to the fact that I'm already employed, I cannot make "feline excretion cleanup technician" my permanent vocation. I worry what the place will look like when we get back from St. John. Will I open the door and find myself ankle deep in cat puke?

Nevertheless, I do love the little assholes. They are furry and sweet and they purr and give love. Sometimes. The rest of the time it seems they're expelling the contents of their stomachs or bladders in some inappropriate locale, for me to clean up... with my teeny tiny brush.

*sigh*

Sport #1
  • Massage
  • 15m

I'm not sure what this was today. Not Crossfit and not lifting, it was like calesthenics for balance and coordination. Hard. I was not very good at any of this today.

Did a lot of stuff in the yoga room... including a dynamic yoga warm up and then a bunch of stuff like bear crawling and crab crawling across the yoga studio.

We did some wall sits, which irritate my knees, and we also did a bunch of other stuff, none of which was easy for me and all of which exploited a terrible weakness on my RIGHT side. We used the TRX machine as well today, which was OK on the left side, but a disaster on the right.

I did sweat a lot, so that's good... but today I felt discombobulated and uncoordinated.

Went back to the locker room, changed my clothes and came back out to find 15 minute free chair massages. So I got a free chair massage. It was terrible, I must admit. She was a very nice lady, but an absolutely awful massage therapist.

Strange day at XSport. Wonky workout and a terrible massage.

9:30 AM: MVG tonight @ 5 PM. I sent him a note last night letting him know that my arms/upperback/abs/core/shoulders are still really sore and mostly useless... however my legs seem to finally be recovering... his response? "We can get a good fat burn workout then! Help get rid of your lactic acid build up!" I must admit, this frightens me, more than a little.

It's RACE WEEK for us, the Whizzzzzz/Dump Duo! This coming Sunday is the race to the altar! We've been training for this day for 5 years, 6 months and 1 week! The proper taper has been employed and I'm happy to say we are ready to ROLL! Cool

Bring it on, MARRIAGE! I'm ready to PR!

Over dressed. Pretty windy. Chatty chatty chatty with Chris, Trudy & Scotty, Graham and Jack.

Graham and Jack flew off the front, and the rest of us just jawsercized all the way home.

I was wearing too many layers.

My arms are so sore, I can barely move them. Hurts to laugh, cough, or do anything with my upper body. Legs seem to be recovering, so I guess tomorrow will be a leg day.

Hoppy Easter! :)
