Over dressed. Pretty windy. Chatty chatty chatty with Chris, Trudy & Scotty, Graham and Jack.
Graham and Jack flew off the front, and the rest of us just jawsercized all the way home.
I was wearing too many layers.
My arms are so sore, I can barely move them. Hurts to laugh, cough, or do anything with my upper body. Legs seem to be recovering, so I guess tomorrow will be a leg day.
Hoppy Easter! :)
Easter 1980:
My, how things have changed.
April 7
9:39 AM: Whizzzzzzmaintenance begins in just 21 minutes! Nails, toes, eyebrows, highlights, haircut. I should look fresh and clean and rejuvenated by like 6 PM.
Also need to run to the jewelry store to pick up those bracelets. And maybe return a thing or two to Wal-mart and Target. Hmmmmm.
My arms and upper body are so sore, I question my ability to steer a car. We'll have to see how it goes.

Glad I got up. :)
MVG @ XSPORT
I'm going to log this as strength training today, since it didn't feel CROSSFIT-ISH. It was lifting. Started out light, went heavier than I thought I could! The objective is to confuse the hell out of my body. I think it's working.
Front & Side shoulder raises
Pushups on bar
Bent over shoulder exercises (?) Name (?)
Shoulder "Fly" machine (This was hard)
Lat pull downs
Something else on that same machine for shoulder/back.
Triceps/Biceps (OwOwOw)
Abs/Core
Got a good stretch and he rolled my IT bands.
Might this be something for me to add to my car this year??? Hahahahahahaha!
9:27 AM: Got into the office today at 8 bells on the dot. EIGHT O' CLOCK. I cannot remember the last time I got to work at this hour. A full HOUR AND A HALF earlier than I usually do. I have Maniac-Vibramwearing-George at 1pm, (let's just call him MVG from here on out) so I figure if it takes a little longer than an hour, I can make up the time after work and not have to be sitting here in the office until 6:45 or so. It's really not that hard to get here early. I simply waste far too much time in the morning with all of my dilly dallying.
But I enjoy the dilly dallying. I really do!
IN OTHER NEWS:
Take a gander at what I found in my pantry last night:
Rice-a-Roni with an instant win sweepstakes! Yum! Lucky me! I wonder if I may have won!!?!?!
Oh! I wonder if I have the winning seasonings packet!?!?!? I can't wait to peek inside! It would be great to have a 4 day/3 night trip to San Francisco! Or even a Rice-a-Roni wall clock! Who DOESN'T want one of those???
Wait... what? The sweepstakes ends MARCH 31, 1995? How is that possible?
Huh. This box of the SAN FRANSISCO TREAT "expired" January 28, 1995.
17 years and 3 months ago!
If this Rice-a-Roni was my child, it would be a senior in High School and driving already!
Chris was a freshman in college in January of 1995. I was 2.5 years out of college and working at the Farm already. Bill Clinton was president and Monica Lewinsky was an anonymous beret wearing youngster. Only drug dealers had cell phones on them at all times. Mark Allen was the Ironman World Champion. The World Trade Center was bombed, but still standing.
This Rice-a-Roni survived 3 Presidents and 4 elections, 2 moves, a tumultuous relationship, a marriage, a divorce, and the recent best years of my life. This Rice-a-Roni has become a part of me. I think I'll keep it. Or maybe we should eat it? I wonder if it's edible?

8:45 AM: Working from home today. It will be nose to the grindstone for 8+ hours.... I've got a lot to get accomplished before we leave next Friday... so it's time to get crackin'. The only other task to get accomplished today is nails. It's been 5 full weeks, and my nails are too long to type. Need to get them done... TODAY. No workout, as I am very sore in specific regions. Not all over sore, but my butt and hips are killing me, as are my shoulders, triceps and middle back muscles. I suppose that pretty much sounds like everywhere... but it's not. I am feeling it very specifically. I see George again tomorrow, and I need to recover a bit so I have at least a chance of executing whatever it is he's going to have me do.
11:32 AM: Damn! My nail guy isn't in today, and I refuse to leave my nails in anyone else's charge. I have had to schedule the appointment for Saturday. Looks like Saturday will be a day full of Whizzzzzmaintenance. I've got nails and toes at 10 followed by hair highlights at 1:30. I will be dazzling by Saturday night. Simply dazzling.
It's WEDDING WEDNESDAY on THURSDAY! How unique! Oh my! How exciting! How thrilling! Dare I say "Spine Tingling???" Does that go too far? Can it go too far?
Anyway, without further ado... RECEPTION GOOFINESS/DANCING!:
We learned a line dance for Whitney's wedding, July 13, 1996. Check out the moves on us!
Some sort of "bride in the middle" circle dance @ AmyJo & Craig's wedding. That's me and my hair on the left, and Kristin (LazyMarathoner) on the right, giving instructions on HOW IT'S DONE!
The tightest hug EVER. I will squeeze you to death and you will like it! My friend Kim and me at Dara's wedding, November 27, 2004.
And the "circle of love" as coined by our good friend ^^ Vik. A big group of our Masters swimmers @ Jana's wedding... 3/10/2012, and one unknown girl in glasses.

April 4
Started with a warmup that included some yoga-type moves. And then...
I don't know how to describe what we did today... I do know it was for legs/butt. the beginning was on the hip adductor machine. I had to sit in a specific posture and hold a weight out in front of me while doing partial contractions of the hip adductors. (Like out but not all the way out, in but not all the way in) All while sitting with my butt sticking out and holding a 5 lb weight straight out in front of me.
Then we did walking lunges, which I have done before, with sets of squats in between... with a 20 lb dumbbell in each hand. I was not allowed to put the dumbbell down. Ever. We did several passes of this.
Then we did something with the kettlebell... like a bending from the hip-pick-it-up-then-squat-6x-then-hold-overhead-then-squat-more-then-bend-from-the-hip-put-back-down thing... and we also did deadlifts with it. On each arm.
Some hamstring exercises for my hamstring, and then it was back over to the Viper.
Another Viper Circuit. Which included the side to side thing I did yesterday + a "chop" thing with a smaller Viper + some rubber tubes and exercises called "swimmers" and then the pull ups/burpees. I excel at neither pull ups nor burpees.
I honestly don't think my body likes moving too quickly. I was going as fast as I could and I still sort of felt like I was in slow motion. At one point when I was dripping sweat and grunting, trying to pull myself up onto the rings, George said... "You're the hardest working person in this gym right now! How does that feel?" And I couldn't even answer him. But I do honestly believe I probably WAS working harder than anyone else at that very moment and I can say now, it felt pretty good!
I haven't forgotten about WEDDING WEDNESDAY... but I got up early, showered, and got to work early, so I didn't have time to put it together this morning... and the photos I want to use are on my home computer, not my work computer. So, you will have to wait til tonight, when I can get myself together and post them. Maniac-Vibramwearing-George tonight @ 5pm. Lord help me.
Until then, please take this cat in a wedding dress + veil.
Meow.
In other news my butt is sore. SORE SORE SORE! My middle/upperback is sore too... We did these things called Rainbows with that Viper thing and they destroyed my shoulder muscles and upper/middle back muscles. I know this isn't really possible, but I feel slimmer and more fit already. Probably because I feel like I used some muscles.
April 3

Holy Mother of God. Had my assessment and in addition to some light stretching and movements to see if I can squat and move my arms and stuff, and my measurements and weight, he took me through an "ass kicker of a full body workout" in literally about 15 minutes. I thought I might die at the end. Using the VIPERS (one of them was 30 lbs and the other was about 15 I think) I did 1 practice round and then 3 full rounds of each exercise for a minute each. I literally thought I might die, and he was chatty Kathy asking me questions about the wedding, the honeymoon, blah blah blah trying to keep my mind off of the fact that I couldn't breathe. (!!!!) The Vibrams should have given him away! He's a Crossfitter!
My program will be comprised of exercises like we did today PLUS some heavy weights and stuff. Light straight cardio. I can't really do this during the workday, though, because I return to the office looking like an absolute wreck.
I have to go back tomorrow and Friday!!!! Interesting! Exciting!
9:21 AM: So, I got up and swam this morning. I have my assessment this afternoon at lunchtime. In addition to assessing my talents and limitations, I believe we will be doing an actual workout today, so I'm ready for that.
Take a gander at the torture tube... the VIPR.
Today mine weighed 30 lbs and 15 lbs. I used two different ones...

I'm not sure what this was today. Not Crossfit and not lifting, it was like calesthenics for balance and coordination. Hard. I was not very good at any of this today.
Did a lot of stuff in the yoga room... including a dynamic yoga warm up and then a bunch of stuff like bear crawling and crab crawling across the yoga studio.
We did some wall sits, which irritate my knees, and we also did a bunch of other stuff, none of which was easy for me and all of which exploited a terrible weakness on my RIGHT side. We used the TRX machine as well today, which was OK on the left side, but a disaster on the right.
I did sweat a lot, so that's good... but today I felt discombobulated and uncoordinated.
Went back to the locker room, changed my clothes and came back out to find 15 minute free chair massages. So I got a free chair massage. It was terrible, I must admit. She was a very nice lady, but an absolutely awful massage therapist.
Strange day at XSport. Wonky workout and a terrible massage.

9:30 AM: MVG tonight @ 5 PM. I sent him a note last night letting him know that my arms/upperback/abs/core/shoulders are still really sore and mostly useless... however my legs seem to finally be recovering... his response? "We can get a good fat burn workout then! Help get rid of your lactic acid build up!" I must admit, this frightens me, more than a little.
It's RACE WEEK for us, the Whizzzzzz/Dump Duo! This coming Sunday is the race to the altar! We've been training for this day for 5 years, 6 months and 1 week! The proper taper has been employed and I'm happy to say we are ready to ROLL!
Bring it on, MARRIAGE! I'm ready to PR!
