UNINTENTIONAL DAY OF REST

9:44 AM: Wedding Wednesday! But I'm absolutely slammed at work. Phone conference meeting at 10... then work work work after that. I haven't forgotten.

5:58 PM: Work never really improved today, and I got caught up on the phone with my manager (who has moved to a different office), so I had to cancel on MVG. I am sad. The good news is that he was able to get me in tomorrow at 5PM... so I still get my ass kicked by him 3x this week! Yay!

This right here is my favorite shot from the wedding itself. I love this picture. LOVE it. I am ordering one for my Mom, as well as one for the Whiz/Dump abode.

Closely followed by this one:

Those are my two favorites. They are from the professional roll that we got from St. John. We don't have the professional photos back from the photographer @ the party yet. I suspect those will CRACK ME UP. He was everywhere. Running around, hither and tither, and he really worked up a sweat. I tried to feed him, but he said he wasn't hungry. That man earned every last penny of whatever he made that day, and I highly recommend him, if you're throwing a wedding in the Chicagoland area. I mean, I haven't seen his final product yet, but he was certainly enthusiastic, and sometimes that's more than half the battle! He was also EVERYWHERE. ALL THE TIME. I don't know how he perfected his time/space travel, but somehow he made that work as he seemingly teleported his way from one end of the ballroom to the other.

Oh, and he was Polish. So I got to use my big-small-8-squirrel-hat-scarf-toilet-carrot vocabulary on him. You know that was one of the highlights of my evening!

His name was GREGORY and he's out of FRED FOX STUDIOS. Hit him up if you are planning a wedding or a vow renewal or whatever. I think you have to go through Fred Fox, though.

Beer Swilling Bride Sparks Controversy?

Wow. I'm glad who ever found that controversial wasn't at our party, where the bride was doing shots, wearing a race number, a Hawaiian lei, and dancing with a woman she calls her "work wife".

Swim
  • 1h 00m
  • 2700.00 yards
  • 02m 13s /100 yards

100 swim
300 pull
6 x 50 drill
Ladder:
50's fast, others "strong"
50/100/50/150/50/200/50/150/50/100/50
Then the same ladder, pulling the long and kicking the 50's
50/100/50/150/50/200/50/150/50/100/50

And that was about it.

2700

The guy in the lane next to me told me the whole swim was 3500. I skipped the first 500 or so, so I should have 3000. I'm only coming up with 2700.

No Ironman, No matter. :)

Bike
  • 34m 43s
  • 8.81 miles
  • 15.23 Mi/hr

Started out a very nice night and ended up (about 2 miles in) as a torrential downpour.

Met Trudy on Hillside, turned around @ MCC. No need for me to be riding in the rain! No Ironman! No matter!

9:35 AM: Got in to work a little early today. Leaving at a decent hour so I can do a teeny tiny bike ride with Trudy tonight. Meeting her on the corner @ 6. Sounds seedier than it is. Wink

9:56 AM: Whew! Glad this wasn't me.

Ah, what the hell. It's gonna be Wedding Tuesday as well as Wedding Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. You're going to have to learn to cope with it.

Kristin was sad to be leaving, and Haley was trying to join a street gang. The rest of us were just taking a picture.

Everyone's favorite d-bag, Tony Goggs. We're like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber!

Hahahahaha.

10:05 AM: I'm not sure how to put into words how flat out fantastic this weekend was. It's not every day that an entire room full of people dresses up, comes together, and commits to spending a good chunk of time celebrating your relationship. We drank, we danced, we sang, some of us Crossfitted (?) some of us squatted other guests, a couple of us headbanged to the extent of needing BioFreeze today. (I learned that in a text message from Whitney this morning). I've never been to a better party, and I've never met a group of people I've loved more. Friends & family from all facets of our lives were together in the same room at the same time. It was... remarkable.

Thank you for celebrating with us. I think I speak for both of us when I say we love each other and we love you. How fortunate we are to have such a phenomenal group of people around us.

Good Lord! It's Wedding Wednesday on MONDAY!

Here we are in the foyer, before the party started. You can tell this was before the party by my still-intact hairdo. I have never worn individual false eyelashes before, and found them to be awesome, and very comfortable! They made my real eyelashes seem spindly, sad and inadequate by comparison. Wow. Fake eyelashes rule.

Me and Mama Whiz, drinking our signature cocktail, the PAINKILLER.

Love these people! How many can you name? Love Haley's eyebrows! And AmyJo's forehead!

Dancing with Photobooth props and Mama Whiz!

AmyJo, Jen, me, and Whitney. BT meets college.

Chris dipped me, but I was non-cooperative.

Almost a wardrobe malfunction, with Jen Hogan.

Headbanging with Whitney. You can take the girl out of heavy metal, but you can't take heavy metal out of the girl, apparently. Kickstart my Heart was the song, and was "our" song in college. Rock ON.

No idea how far I swam today. Took a wrong turn due to new road construction, arrived late, and had to talk to the MOD in order to get a lane to swim in.

We've been required to keep an open lane during Master's Swim now. This means that EVEN THOUGH NO ONE OUTSIDE OF OUR GROUP wants to swim in the lane, WE can't swim in that lane, just in case someone decides THEY want to swim in that lane. We have 6 lanes. We have 20+ people. In 5 lanes that's 4 people to a lane... at least. Sometimes more, depending on who shows up.

We have a whole other indoor pool in our facility. That pool has 1 if not 2 lap lanes. There's NO REASON we have to keep a whole lane open for one hour during Master's swim.

So I walked up to the front desk, in my swim suit, and complained. It makes no sense to squash us all together when there's another pool not more than 50 feet away.

I ultimately swam in the open reserved lane, alone. This is crazy.

If this type of insanity gets attention, I am going to request, then, that HBFC leave 30% of it's equipment unused in every class for people that might just want to use it, while a class is in session. This would go for spin bikes, body pump equipment, and step classes. That's what we're being required to do. If it makes no sense in a spin class, why would it make sense in the pool?

I'm not usually a cranky person, but I got caught out on the wrong day today. I had very little tolerance for this nonsense this morning.

Run
  • 38m 10s
  • 2.61 miles
  • 14m 37s /Mi

Did this in my NB Minimus. No set ratio of run/walk. Just sort of walked until I felt like running a bit and then ran a bit until I felt like walking again.

I will say I felt a bit more natural running in these shoes. Not faster. Not more graceful, but a bit lighter on my feet. I sometimes drag my R leg/foot or scrape it on the ground when I'm "running" and I noticed I did much less of that today.

9:51 AM: Working like a lunatic today. At lunchtime I'm going to shoot over to the drycleaners, pick up my dress, and then shoot over to the jewelry store, and pick up my bracelet. That's 2 less things for me to do tomorrow. Chris is dropping the reception stuff off today. I'm picking up flowers for myself and Rachael and the parents on Saturday... and that's it! Kiss I'm off tomorrow and I'm going to swim in the AM, do MVG by myself @ HBFC and then clean the rest of the house. I'd also like to get to the recycling place today to get rid of some of these cardboard boxes... (Each centerpiece bowl came wrapped in 2 cardboard boxes + bubblewrap. The living room is a recycling disaster!)

8:18 PM: Was quite productive today. Even went for the tiniest of WOGS.

I feel a list brewing:

LIST

  • Work
  • Drycleaners
  • Jewelry Store
  • Recycling depot
  • Exercise somehow
  • Swim
  • MVG
  • Flowers
  • Clean/organize this house.

PHOTO FLIPPER! I can't get out of IMPACT 12pt font, so it's going to have to work for me today. I have neither the time nor the inclination to figure out how to make this appear any other way...

Rachael and me, Mexico, 2010. We went on a biking excursion. I could *not* convince her to take her baseball cap off before putting her bike helmet on. I tried and tried and tried. --sigh.
