Wednesday - November 6

So. Much. Mucus.

Home today. Sitting on the couch. Watching soap operas. Dozing off here and there. I need to kick this! It also probably just needs to run its' sticky, phlegmmy, mucusy course.

12 week appointment tomorrow. I will do my best not to hack all over the doctor.

Tuesday - November 5

6:47 AM: Slept OK, but woke up coughing and sliming all over everything. Blew my nose hard and ended up with a full force nosebleed. (This is nothing new, when I get a cold and have to blow my nose over and over I invariably wind up with a nosebleed. I must have too many small veins in my nose...) Must clean myself up and go to work. Need a tampon for my L nostril.

I'm supposed to be off work tomorrow and Thursday but I'm wondering if that's wise. We were going to go downtown, hit the Field Museum, and then go to a live taping of another NPR show, but I don't know if that's smart. I should probably lay low, and work on recovering. WTF.

I am being cheated out of a week of my "second trimester energy, unicorn, rainbow and delight". I am not happy about this.

1:03 PM: Cancelled our hotel reservation for tomorrow night. Not going to see NPR taping and not going to Field Museum. I need to lay low. Feel like marginal shit and would like to rebound sooner rather than later.

Monday - November 4

4:15 PM: I have a head cold or a chest cold or something that is KICKING MY ASS. Normally, under these circumstances, I'd have slugged down a bottle of NyQuil (in the 3-4 days that I've been suffering here) and I'd sleep straight through the night, no problem. Sure, I'd be in a drug induced coma, but I'd at least be getting the sleep I need to recover. Last night, the night before, and the night before that, I've been hacking and coughing so much I am involuntarily blowing farts out the other end in my sleep. They wake me up. (This is not glamorous, people. It is what it is).

I am able to take Mucinex, which doesn't help at all. I'm able to take Tylenol, which maybe helps a little, but doesn't help as much as Advil or a couple of big swigs off the NyQuil bottle.

Stood outside most of the day yesterday in the cold watching the CX races when I probably should have been at home, in bed, pushing fluids and resting. Also was out late-ish on Saturday night with some girlfriends (and Chris). Out til 11 PM! That's unheard of in my current condition. I wasn't drinking, of course, but I wasn't sleeping either.

So all of that = SICK DAY FROM WORK. Lots of time in bed today. I over did it this weekend.

The baby is fine, as far as I know. I still feel pregnant (which adds to the discomfort)... I have been coughing so much I can almost feel it in my uterus (perhaps that's my imagination... but I called the nurse just in case... to be sure I couldn't somehow traumatize the baby by coughing incessantly) and she assured me that I could not. I figure they've (probably?) heard more ridiculous questions, so I may as well just ask. So I did.

Will go back and backfill the weekend.

Thank you for your concern, everyone  xxoo

Sleeping. After a long day of CX races. These couch pictures are killing me.

Saturday - November 2

Tracked all of the BT'ers doing IMFL today. Nice job to everyone.

Cleaned the house.

Girlz from work came over, and we all went out to dinner (Chris included... Chris + 5 girls, 4 of which were single, and one of which is married. To him.)

The girls were on the prowl, wanting to hit up some bars after dinner for a little night life. I don't do night life in my current condition, so Chris and I bowed out and went home.

Me, Kristin, Jody, Kathy and Dara. In my living room.

Friday - November 1

11 weeks today! WoooooooHoooooooo!

Boy, these weeks are moving slowly. SLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWLLLLLLLLYYYYYYY.

I was able to stay up last night to see the end of 48 Hours, HARD EVIDENCE. 10 pm, guys! TEN-PM! Oh and here's a shocker, the guy was found guilty.

Unfortunately I've caught something of a cold... I'm drowning in phlegm, mucous, and other sticky substances. Good thing I'm feeling more energetic so I can actually sort of rally to fight this thing.

Woke up in the middle of the night choking on phlegm. I was having a dream I was choking on amniotic fluid. I read somewhere yesterday that the baby is now swallowing amniotic fluid and it's going thru the kidneys to be peed out and swallowed again. That's gross. And it's happening right here inside of me. INSIDE OF ME. Ewww.

Check this out:

Obviously this is not the one and only Spurtle Parker, but another urine swallowing alien of approximately the same age.

"Say hello to my little friend!"

Thursday - October 31

I think I am going to be a sleeping cat lady for Halloween.

This is, of course, LAST NIGHT. I've asked Chris to stop taking photos of me in this condition. We get the idea.

Let the record reflect that I lasted until 9:30 last night. 3/4 of the way through TED. Things are looking up, people! THINGS ARE LOOKING UPPPPPPP!

HAPPY HALLOWEEEEEEENIE!
