This is getting harder. AAAAAAAACK!

7:25 AM: It's been months since I've been this sore. I find this hilarious. I barely did anything yesterday, and this morning I could hardly roll my old carcass off the mattress.

Yet another Happy Hour tonight. Am going to plan ahead and bring Diurex and wear compression sox. Or maybe I just make it a point to SIT. Don't know

It took me exactly ONE DAY to abandon LOSE IT. I lost it alright... INTEREST, that is. I don't know how I logged every morsel of food for so many months. I just don't have that patience anymore. Based on my prior experience, I know what I should and should not be eating. So I will proceed accordingly. Cookie? Bad. Lettuce leaves? Good. Chicken breast/meat? Good. Giant piece of some shitty cake? Bad. See? I've got it nailed.

I arrived to work today to find I'd been Swayze'd. Is that a thing?

75+ photos of Patrick Swayze... all over EVERYTHING. Everywhere. You name it. Patrick was on it. Rest his weary soul.

That was good for a laugh.

Walking for 40 minutes with an incline of 3.5 or 4.0, depending on my mood. Then did a 5 min cool down at 0.0 at a rate of like 3.2 or so.

All while watching Dr. Phil. There are some jacked up people in this world... that's fo' shizzle. Not sure I would go on national TV and air my issues, but I suppose someone has to do it... and it makes for scintillating viewing whilst plodding on the treadmill.

A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Some side bend things that MVG taught me backintheday and 3 sets of 15 swings with 35 lbs. I am weak.

Also did some TRX stuff. Not very good at that anymore either. The deconditioning has been epic. So far to go.

I don't even like how I look in my workout wear anymore. Mooooshy.

Oh well, got to keep things going. Keep things moving. Walking and lifting in combo are the fastest way to get this shit accomplished.

Am off today. Did this in the morning. Done!

Super Awkward Throwback Thursday Christmas edition:

Me and my cousin Jenny. I'm looking all... awkward and I'm clutching a lollipop that I've smeared all over my face. No idea of the year... am thinking possibly 1975? I look about 5ish. Or maybe 1974... because I can't believe they'd send me to kindergarten when I couldn't even reliably get a sucker in my mouth.

30 seconds of planking after half a bottle of champagne, an appetizer, Christmas dinner, half a bottle of wine, and dessert.

9:33 PM: I've had entirely too much champagne/wine yet I still have not done my :30 of plank tonight. Am going to do that immediately. Did I happen to mention that I am blogging this from a new MacBook Air? I am. It's delightful. And so small. Seems that everything these days is insufferably small.

I haven't left the house today. Christmas turned out to be a little bit harder than I thought it was going to be. *sigh*.

Going to plank for 30 seconds now. BRB.

Run

Took it a little easier in terms of pace, but went higher on the incline. Still sweating a lot so I will call this mission accomplished. Wore my new brace. It's OK. Not great, but better than no brace at all for exercise activities.

Day 1 of the Plank Challenge with KTPitbull. 20 seconds. I got it done. Forgot we were starting this today... so I almost blew it on day 1. Nice.

2 x 6 I limped up the stairs. Figured it couldn't hurt (any more than it already does) and it might help strengthen the old knee. Also it gives me 6 ish min of sneaky cardio. Went faster the second time up because I was doing it with other people and I wanted to seem tough and athletic. There. I said it out loud. It's true.

I bought some DIUREX. Not sure if it helps or or not. Ankles and legs seem normal and my boots fit. So this is good. Will take it again today and hopefully be returned to my previous status quo.

Also bought a cheesy stability brace for the L knee so I can walk after work.

As of the new year I will have HMO health insurance... so I will need to go to my PCP (and discuss BP meds!) and get a referral to ortho. 2 birds with one stone. I'm efficient!? That's the first thing on the list. Must get this knee fixed, as I think it's a big limiter, and it's gone downhill fast.

Then, fibroids.

Then we'll start thinking about what to do re: family. I think I need the time to emotionally settle down a bit. I think I'm OK, and then all of a sudden, I'm NOT. It's not just the sadness that we lost Kara...it's that, plus everything else. Trying to figure out WHAT DO WE DO NEXT? HOW? HOW MUCH RISK (Emotional/Physical) is involved? What about adoption? How LONG DOES THAT TAKE? HOW MUCH RISK (Emotional... I've been reading) and what about COST? My mind reels and I bounce back and forth between what I think I want to do v. how I feel (mostly physically) and I wind up with a confusing mish mash of emotions.

When I was pregnant with Kara I was relieved that we wouldn't have to worry about all of these different variables. We were LUCKY. We were BLESSED. We had been given this child against all odds and WHEW! We didn't have to worry about all of that other crap. Hah. Right.

And that about sums it up.

The ghost of Christmas Past...

Me and my two cousins, Linda and Diane. I think this was probably 2003 or 2004.  My hair was short and dark. And my lips were RED RED RED.

After going out on Friday to the Happy Hour and then to the neighborhood party and standing and drinking for hours, my legs were swollen. They retained quarts (gallons?) of water and I'm still trying to get rid of it. (I weighed myself Friday night and I was UP 5 lbs, after being down 4.6 in the beginning of the week, and feeling pretty good!) I wore compression sox over night Friday-Saturday and then wore my compression TIGHTS for most of the day yesterday. I also notice the water around my abdomen, and it's settled in my knees a bit. I have not noticed that my kidneys are actively working to let go of all of this fluid. (No frequent urination...etc)

One of the side effects of this ProCardia bp medication is swelling of the legs and ankles. I also suspect I'm PMSing. You know my body likes to get back onto a schedule and I bet $100 that my damn period is coming next week.

Can't take a bp medication that contains a diuretic (like I used to) because I can't take a diuretic if I'm planning to get pregnant. Does something to the development of the fetus' kidneys. (Not good, obviously).

I am tempted to go back to the doctor and ask for my regular BP medication to take until such time that we decide we want to start trying to get ME pregnant again, which is not a given. Maybe we adopt a baby and allow me to get all of my various issues repaired or removed. Fibroids/Knee/BP/Bunion/ etc. I haven't had great luck with any other BP medications. They've all given me lower leg swelling/water retention that just isn't OK with me. Add these tree trunk legs to the fact that I'm practically crippled with my L knee unless I take handfuls of Advil before and after exercising, and you've got one very unhappy girl. Not good. None of this.

Had a shitty, depressing, whiny, fat/sad day yesterday and it appears I'm headed off in that direction again today. Will attempt to divert.

Christmas Happy Hour after work last night. Ho. Ho. Ho. Loved the shirt I was wearing. It's my new fave.

In other news, my knee is destroyed and as swollen and as large as a... cantaloupe. Or some such medium sized round thing, take your pick. It's big. It's swollen. It HURTS. It's catching on stuff. I cannot get up from a seated position and "walk"... I limp a couple of steps and try to shake it out, and then I walk. I know I'm favoring this knee and I know something needs to be done post haste, if I intend to keep up with any type of active lifestyle. Or, even walk around pain free for the long term.  I thought "rest" would make it better but it seems rest has made it worse. Or maybe it's just getting worse. Something has to be done.

Add it to the list.
