my quads are sore... from swimming 2 days ago?? back still hurting, but at least not impeding motion. part of the problem is there seems to be no comfortable way for me to sleep without exacerbating it... woke up in pain, even just lying flat on my back. according to my diet tracking (offline) from yesterday, i need to eat more protein and less fat. for some reason that seems difficult. we'll see how i do today.

April 14

today is a rest day. (too crazy at work for workout.) still taking muscle relaxant, but much much better. i have gained 6 pounds in the last 3 weeks. not sure how much of that is hormonal, but this has got to stop. I am recomitting myself to counting calories and eating right, starting today. i even weighed all my food so far. we'll see if it works. i'm not so good at delayed gratification. plus it's hard trying not to eat while being around my hubby who can eat like a horse but weighs 40 lbs. less than me (same height).

April 12

woke up Wed morning with severe back/neck pain. so much so that i couldn't turn my head very much and was pretty much in constant pain. this lasted through today, at which point i finally went to the doctor. prescription-strength alleve plus muscle relaxant and i am so much better. not sure what caused it in the first place... crappy hotel bed/pillow combo? slept funny? stress? all of the above? doc strongly recommended massage. may have to do that next week! also, MUST start swimming again to stave off the tense back muscles.

crazy dizziness on top of back pain. had to take dramamine and sleep all day. sleep = good. had to cancel class. oh well.
