DAGGER DOLLS FOREVER!!!

October 14

off to fi's 2 year check up, then to my own achilles check up. am feeling pretty macho having been referred to a sports specialist! silly, huh? race director called last night to say i can switch to the 10k or 5k when i get there tomorrow, if need be. feels pretty good today. walked up to the store w/ fi on my back and it was fine. thing is, even if the doc says 'rest it', what does that mean? i'm a stay at home mom with two very active kids, and i don't drive...so i can never really rest! if for some reason i can't race at all, we will still go down to the race because the girls are supposed to race tomorrow too. fi's first! i really hope i can race though. this was my first 1/2 marathon ever, and i want to run it again. i remember it being hard, but also sort of dream like. its a beautiful place to run. keep your ankles crossed for me! ;)

ankle felt fine in yoga tonight, even during some deep stretches and tough balance moves. this is very good news. hopefully the doc i'm seeing tomorrow will think so too!

ran w/ just ella in the double jogger (double w/ one still works so much better than our old single) to her soccer practice. bill and fi met us there w/ the car since it was raining out. ankle felt okay. still will stretch and take advil tonight. i think i'm good to go for saturday...depending on how it feels in the morning.

not much to report here. feeling better and have been better about what i'm eating and drinking more water. ankle (achilles tendon) still hurting, so i'm not working out at all which is frustrating. tempted to go for a run to see how it feels, and maybe help decide if i should DNS for saturday, downgrade to a 5k or 10k, or just take an advil and go for it (albeit at an easier pace). hmmm.

October 10

blaaaaaaaah! just not a great day. last 3 nights fi has been up a bunch (2 year molars?). legs are sore from the race on saturday. my right ankle is bothering me again, which is not good since i have a 1/2 marathon trail run in 5 days. pms. cramps. bloating. up to 160 on the scale (gah!). first day taking the bus to school for ella and the bus never showed up. e was a sweetheart today, but fi was all over me all day long (bopped in the eye, used as a jungle gym, elbowed in the ribs - sometimes being a mom is like being a cage fighter, i swear!). add in that i ate horrible stuff today (potato chips and jelly beans - why is it that when you're not doing well with your weight you just want to eat MORE?). anyway, i'm wiped out. tomorrow is a new day, right????

October 9

watched bill do a cyclocross race today. looks like SO much fun. he hasn't done one in 10 years (several years before we met), so he had a blast doing it. it was fun to be the spectator too, although i now have an itch to try xc! maybe next year. he's going to try and do at least one more race yet this fall. in the afternoon, we went to the bike shop (www.countycycles.com) where i bought some stuff w/ my team discount and store credit (they give you store credit for the amount you paid for every 4th race you do, and 25-50% for any other race where you place). have $100+ credit, AND i get a store discount (i LOVE this shop!!!) so i got a new helmet, some arm warmers, a bottle, and for a tad extra - matching pink campagnolo hats for ella and fi! much take pictures!!! grocery run, dinner, walk dog, baths...time for some hot tea and an early bed time.

forgot to stop my chrono and didn't really look at the clock when i finished, but the results are up already! woo hoo! race report and pictures soon.

up early and all bundled to head out to the race. ella is so excited that she was running laps around the house to show us how fast she would race! hope we can still register! i am a virgo and tend to plan ahead, especially now that we have kids. i still can't believe i didn't register for this back in april or something. fi moved back into our bed around 11 last night and was up ALLLLL night after that screaming 'nurse! nurse!' if we have time, we may stop for giant espressos on the way to the race. :)
