Got to the pond a little early. The water was very choppy still. I wish I swam later, cuz when I returned from my ride, it was like glass out there!

I have been looking at the numbers more closely from Sunday's Boulder Peak Tri. Although I had my best swim in an Olympic distance tri, I am still most excited about where my fitness is on the bike and run! I am coming to believe that the 24 races that I have completed so far this year have notched me up a bit. For instance: The winner of my age group, Tim Sandell, who can put all three events together kicked my ass 2:12:35 to 2:19:41 but, I did have a faster combined bike/run than him. Sandell: BIKE 1:07:33 RUN 41:36 TOTAL 1:49:09 Dime: BIKE 1:07:34 Run 39:57 TOTAL 1:47:31 I also had a faster T2 than him as well: 51" to 54" At The Boulder races, you have to be a complete triathlete to compete. I guess that is what keeps me interested in this sport. I have so much room to improve and it drives me. My swim: 29:30 (to beach) kept me in 8th place and out of the race before I even got out of the reservoir door.

Rode out past the Gravel Pond and back... I couldn't get a favorable wind all day! I wanted to brick, but I have to go to the Airport and then up to Vail... maybe a trail run later!

Easy run up in Vail.

Race Report is up! In Vail today... Hopefully a cruise on my fixie and maybe an easy run. I don't think I'll get a chance to swim at the gravel pond until wed. Holy Macaroni - looks like I didn't get a workout in again today. This could be habit forming... Nah. I need a mid-season break. I'm going to start coming on strong now. Found myself a small little closet in Vail (actually Minturn) to call home. It is so tiny, but new and nice and I WILL make it work. I'm looking forward to getting myself moved up there so that I can hit my IRONMAN training at 8000 feet!

My bike is starting to become my fastest discipline! I had a great ride today. Tied for first in my age group with a 23.1 avg (ok, the winner had me by one second), but I call that a tie... The telling part was, I never got out of my saddle on the climb up Old Stage Road! I was cruising and keeping my HR in check and everything was firing!

Another first! I broke 40 minutes in an OLY run (barely)... but it was very hot and the course is not a fast run course. I am stoked about this

A great swim for me... I've never broken 30 minutes in an OLY before! This was a huge catalyst for me to race well on the bike and run. I was 4 minutes faster than last year and pumped!

There was a run to transition so my official time is 30:24 and 8 minutes behind the winner of my Age group, but I wasn't racing him... I was racing me!

AND! I did have a faster bike/run combination than the winner of my age group, Tim Sandell!

Boulder Peak: 2:19:41 (PR'd by 8 minutes over last year) All this racing is paying off. 24 races completed in 2008

Ran with my group - hot

Tired of being tired. Seriously, no time to train. I feel more tired than if I was training. I've been waking up at 3 am and not stopping until after 9 pm. The weird thing is my legs are throbbing! I have a feeling that I will be very slow at the Boulder Peak. I don't feel sharp, rested or fast :(
Tired.
