Run
  • 56m 57s
  • 5.00 miles

Not being able to leave well enough alone, still tinkering w/R/W splits, ended up doing something along the lines of 11/1/10/2/9/3, etc, actually worked nicely for me.

Was still feeling kind of crappy this morning, but really wanted to get out and at least move around for a while, figured if nothing, if I felt like crap after a mile I could always go back home. Instead, I pulled the whole five miles and apparently just sweated out whatever was making me feel crappy.

Oof, maybe not so much on the run tomorrow, feeling like total crap, going to go get friendly with some cough syrup... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Too much going on this week, shooting for 5 mile runs tomorrow, Friday & Sunday. Quick month in review for Oct: Distance covered: 66.7 miles, more than twice what I did in Sep. 2,145 crunches for the abs challenge. Goal for November is to keep my run paces under 12 minutes. Other goals for Nov: Get to eye doc for contacts so I can swim again...Finish the 5 miler in under an hour...Get to dentist to replace filling that came out while flossing...Do another 1K in the pool once I can see again...More weight training...Get old place ready to rent...

5/2 R/W splits the whole way, felt really pretty darn good, wish I'd had more time. Can't wait for my idiot bag to get here so I can stop having to carry my water bottle.

Gonna finish off the abs challenge w/an even 100 a day. :)

Squeaked in a run at lunch, no swimming for the time being - out of contact lenses... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Either a swim tonight or a very easy go on the bike, my legs are still mad at me for wearing the wrong shoes to hoof it around DC yesterday - I can only imagine how the runners are feeling! (Wow, I am a wuss.)

OK, have now completely made up for bad behaviour last week on the challenge. Kick up to 95 tomorrow for the final week!

Now I get it. For years I'd never understood why someone would go out and do a 26.2 mile run. Today I went and watched the MCM, and though I can't *explain* it, I get it. I am so completely stoked for the half mary in March now. I managed to find my friend in a field of 30K, many thanks to the Marine next to me that helped me scream her name at mile 10! Caught her again at 15 and then saw her come across the finish line - ABIGAIL I AM SO FLIPPING PROUD OF YOU! Oh, and I saw JeepFleeb twice!!

Doubling up to make up for the transgressions of earlier this week...

In a fit of what can only be described as insanity, there are two more races on my schedule: Quantico 5 Miler, 11/19, and the Shamrock Half Mary next March. There is a method to the madness on this... I'd initially taken a pass on the 5 miler, just didn't think I'd be "there" yet w/the distance. But after today's run, which was a touch over 4 miles, and feeling actually *decent* at the end of it, I realized I'd be running 5 miles by then anyway (or at least a respectable R/W), so why not? The goal is to do that in 60m or less. The HalfMary? I needed something in March, preferably w/ a good challenge - this fits the bill perfectly, and I actually do really think it's doable. Goal for that is 3H or less. And hey, it's a weekend in VaBeach. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thoughts on a freakishly good run: -- Chipmunk's words of "I will make run/walk my bitch." have become an inspiration to me. -- Next time hopefully I won't be such a spaz the first 15 minutes of the run. (No groove, no rhythm, it was basically like really, really bad sex.) -- When you hit R/W splits that make your body happy, it is a thing of joy, and makes the last 35 minutes of the run MUCH better. -- Now that it's colder, I need an idiot bag or some variation thereof, because my old dance leggings are great, but have no pockets. -- I take way too much pride in the fact that I can still get into my old dance leggings, and they are from high school. -- I like the fact that I keep surprising the hell out of myself doing all this. ~~~~~~~~~~~ What an obscenely glorious day out there - sunny, absolutely clear as a bell, if you're a pilot, you'd be in heaven looking out my window this morning. Only downside is that it's 47 degrees. A tad chilly if August in DC is your favorite time of the year. So, no excuses today, I'm dressed & my ass is outta here for a run - Chipmunk, I'm going to try to remember what you told me, hopefully it will help. Certainly can't hurt.

Week caught up with me last night, slept 12 hours straight. Run tomorrow, gonna give myself today off to just continue recovering from life. :)
