Felt good in the water but was HUNGRY! Forgot to look at the clock when I got out of the water so time is estimated.
Started the day changing a leaky faucet at one of the other rentals. Since I was there I mowed the lawn.
Today's plan: Swim over lunch and mountain bike race tonight.
June 19
Yeah. Run with Lori. Mowed another lawn for a cool down.
On deck after work: 1.5 hr run, .5 hr medicine ball.
Exciting news: Last night I signed a lease on the vacant apartment. Because the old tenant's lease goes through the end of June I won't miss a day of rent! Now I just need to find the time to get everything completely finished in the next week and a half. I rented to the ultra marathoner / bike racer / mountain biker / alpine ski racer / honors college prof who I learned in my background check has also done a first ascent on a route on El Capitan in Yosemite. Glad I no longer have to spend time fielding calls and e-mails and showing the place, and expect he and his wife will be great house mates (since it's the lower of the duplex I live in).
OWS: I'm doing an open water swim race on 6/30 in Pleasant Prairie. Interested? Go HERE to discuss in the thread I started in the WI forum.

On Wednesday I'm going to race at Crystal Ridge with the Metro Mountain Bikers. We've got long days right now so it will probably be a 15 mile race on the twisty and hilly single track. If you have a mountain bike you should be there!
Reg starts at 5 p.m. and race starts at 6:30. $8. I went last year and my old school Gary Fischer was by far the lowest tech bike there. And I got smoked by the hard cores. Still a blast!
Who is in???

-------------------
Going to miss a 1.5 hr ride tonight as I'm going to a memorial service. A friend of mine died last week from a motorcycle accident. Scary stuff, an suv blew a stop sign on a rural highway and he hit the tail end of it. He was in a coma for over a week when he had a stroke and then died. He was geared up but this stuff happens on motorcycles. He just rode Deal's Gap last month which I'm sure was a blast. I loved having a bike (Buell Thunderbolt S3T) but was never able to completely enjoy it as I was always worried about the other guys on the road. Godspeed, Shane.

And I ran. I ran so far away.
After a busy day finally tied on the running shoes and headed out at 7:30. For a cool down Lori and I both fired up a lawn mower and got that job done.
Calf muscles are a bit tired from HHH but otherwise feel good. 75 90 minute run on deck today, along with an 8 year olds b-day get together and some house work.
Got the first application on the apartment yesterday. Dood has done the Leadville Ultra. I almost offered to sign a lease on the spot. But I'm going to do my background check first...

Went to church with Lori today, outside service was nice. Then bought a new sink and toilet along with all the fun plumbing for them, a light fixture, and other fun doodads to finish off the bathroom and take care of a few more details. Then spent an hour sanding baseboards to prep for painting before heading to the b-day / fathers day party where we ate, drank (one Leine's Big Butt Double Bock), and played a long game of bocce before heading home to run. A great Sunday, and now I am tired...

Yeah! Horribly Hilly was a blast. It is, in fact, horribly hilly. That said, while 200k would probably have lost the fun factor, I would have been happy to go a bit further. Well run event with Hammer nutrition and decent eats aftarward. Weather was perfect. Rode most of the time with Lori, and kicked it up by myself for the last eight miles or so.
Got over 48 mph on one of the descents. Fun!
Met a bunch of new BT'ers: Whizzzzz, Coredump, tribadger, RetireToTri, and PiggFinn. Great to meet everyone, look forward to seeing you again later this summer!
