Missed my run this morning.  Didn't get to sleep last night until 2:00am (?)  Plus it was hot, plus it was humid, plus I was lazy, yada, yada.

Might hit the gym over lunch and get some time on the ellipitical...

Felt good to see a little improvement in those. Printed off the series of "beginner swim" articles by Kevin Koskella and am going to start working some drills into the swims. Really need to improve the stroke.

Played golf with son#2 today.  I remember when my dad started getting older that he couldn't hear very well.  I'd say something and then have to repeat it.  He would cup his ear and turn it toward me. Soon I learned to talk louder and get his attention before saying something.  Today walking back to the golf cart my son was trying to tell me something and I couldn't hear him.  I cupped me ear and turned it toward him.  I think it was the sprinklers around the green.

Kind of excited about the run this morning. My first "training" 10k under an hour. Ran at the HS track. Kept track of the 400 splits. Slowest was 2:28 and fastest was 1:53...which was my last one. I always try to run the last one fastest. Still a long way to go for those 8 minute miles; but making progress :-)

Couldn't resist :-)  A pic of our kids at the Grand canyon from our recent vacation.  Their mother was always nervous when they were close to the edge!

Didn't feel like running a 10k in the heat and humidity (how's that for motivation and discipline!)  Went to the gym instead and did 60 minutes on the elliptical.  Figured at least I got a good workout in.  Plan on a swim today sometime.

Caught a coon in our live trap today.  We've had a few getting into things.  Didn't really feel like hauling him somewhere so I let him go.  It was pretty funny watching him race down the hill in our backyard to the woods.  Looked like a blur of fur!  He wanted out of there....

Goldfinches....saw a small group of them today on my ride.  One flew in front of me, then I watched him go in the brush and about 6 others joined him.  They were brilliant yellow w/ black wings.  Very cool.

 Workout....rode to a neighborhood pool a friend lets me use...swam...rode a different way home.

Did it all straight with about 2 minutes on each transition.  On the swim took about 2 minutes of breaks.

Driving to Iowa tonight to attend my Dad's wedding reception.  Might drive to where I raced a few weeks ago and do the run portion again.  I'd like to see how fast I could run it fresh.  Why?  Who knows  :-)
