Leisurely ride with my wife around town. Was actually 50 minutes, but only recorded 35 since is was not too much of a workout. Then ran 2 miles....kind of a mini-brick
Mile Splits1 - 8:212 - 7:54 first time I've broken 8mpm for a tempo run :-)Thunderstorms kept me from the ride this morning. Will try to find time today to make it up.
Scheduled a Dr. Appt for my foot tomorrow. Hope he can help figure out this pain in my left foot.

Not a bad run, but bummed I had to cut it short. My left foot started bothering me at about mile 5...I stopped by home to change shoes. However, it was already throbbing so I only ran another 3 miles or so. Had planned at least 10 and was thinking about 12. Oh well, 8 miles isn't bad. The first 5 I was under a 10 minute pace. My plan on these long runs is to run about 2.5 miles and take a 1 minute walk break. Seems to help my time and energy a lot! I was on pace for probably my best 10-mile training run until the foot started acting up. Will probably see the dr. this week about it.
Funny thing...a new neighbor moved in a few houses up our street. I'm running by his house today...completely focused on my run...when all of a sudden, I, ummmm, well...passed a little gas. He happened to be standing in the middle of his yard at the inopportune moment. I wonder what he thought. I just said 'morning' and kept on running :-)
Oh yeah...my time includes about 5 minutes for walk breaks and shoe-changing. Without the shoe changing I would have been right around the 10min/mile pace.....which I'm happy with.

Decided to see how far I could swim in 45 minutes....
guess I know now :-)
Dr. Update....saw doc yesterday about my left foot. Said there was no fractures or other "serious" problem. Said I'm a little flat-footed, and have wider than normal feet and probably need to look at a different shoe. Suggested I go to the "New Balance" store and even wrote out some instructions on an "RX" pad for the staff down there....interesting. Also gave me some over-the-counter orthotics: the "power-step" brand, I believe. We'll see if all this helps.
Had an early morning, working breakfast so didn't get a workout in. Will try and swim over lunch.
Interesting note....went to our kids' High School picnic and kick-off. They present all the sports and activities and introduce the seniors. The cross-country team has 70 people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing. Their coach is very dedicated and a good runner himself. Pretty neat.
TOMORROW...tempo run of 5.6 miles. Goal to average under 9min miles. We'll see.
