Well no training today but a nice brekkie with the girls and then nice family time with DH and daughter. A really nice day yet I was an emotional wreck - tears and more tears.
i have now started tracking this. I initially thought it was the pressure and the build up of training for Cairns but that's behind me now and I've had 3 weeks break from training. I also thought it was lack of carbs making me emotional after big training days.
But now I've realised this is happening right before my period is due. I've never experienced this level of mood swings before but 4 months ago my doctor put me on the contraceptive pill - firstly because he thinks as an 'athlete' (made me smile when he said that) I should be able to dictate when I have my period and it shouldn't interfere with race day! Makes sense. Also as I'm 47 he said it would get me through the next 5 years of 'pre and menopausal years'.
all sounds great - BUT for the mood swings. So I think a lower dose is required so I'm going on Friday. I'm taking an unofficial day off. I also need a dental imaging xray, and I'm going to get fitted for my new bike my Trek Mad One! Bring on Friday!
Thanks to everyone who has been 'inspiring' me of late. It is so appreciated. My DH is also sooo very much appreciated, he's been an absolute rock through all of this and he knows with IM less than a year away he's in for a bumpy ride. I love him!

Wow what a morning for a run. Was only about 10 degrees Celsius but the sun was shining when I set off around 9am. Headed down to the beach for my 10km run - 5km to the pier, turnaround and home.
Heaps of cyclists out on Beach Rd and a lot of runners too. I wore my new Soleus Pink watch which I picked up in Cairns at the expo - I love it! It doesn't do anything flash like my new Garmin but it does do a 2min/1min timer so I could do my run/walk strategy without pressing buttons on my phone or counting.
It was a perfect run, really comfortable, on days like these I could easily run a marathon!
Headwind on the way back was refreshing as a runner but I felt for the cyclists!
It's made me smile on an otherwise 'down' day (damn this hormones every 28 days turn into a complete basket case!)
