Holy. Crap. It was hot in there tonight. At least I didn't feel like I was gonna pass out in class. High heart rate though...ugh!

0810 - I think it's hilarious (or the antithesis of hilarious, I'm not sure which just yet) that we went all the way thru Hurricane Season 2009 and didn't get a lick of anything tropical.  Now it's December 2nd, and we're about to get hit with 10 foot seas, 4-feet-above-normal tides, 40mph winds, driving rain, and possible tornadoes due to an occluded spinning low coming at us from across the gulf.  Sure, it's not tropical, but it could do tropical-storm-type damage.  I'll be interested to see what Bayshore looks like tonight with a 4-foot-above-normal high tide piling into Tampa Bay.  Anyone wanna run tonight??  HA!
I am pretty sure doing CF, running, and then taking a flow yoga class last night made my back tight.  Bikram tonight will be just what the doctor (or the Coach Q) ordered.  I do NOT need back problems now...things have been good this year!  I am also gonna try and swim today, but I know I'm going to lunch with my buddy John, and then I have to be at yoga right after work, so Idunno if it'll actually happen today.

12 minute time trial per CFE website. It's a shame I'm so tired that this is all I could do. I guess I'm pretty worn out from the ultra. Plus, I had just got done doing CF and a weights workout.

Made up a little burner today.
15-12-9 reps, for time, of:
50# overhead squats
55# DB swings
Military style pushups

Quick, but not easy...no heart rate lowering "rest" exercise. Made me sweat pretty quickly.

Yoga class at LA Fitness. This was my first experience with FLOW YOGA. Up til now I've only done Bikram. This was much easier but still a good challenge. At least it stretched me out a bit.

1515 - RR for Bartram Forest is up!

1100 - A call to action for my CF peeps.  This was on the CFLUMBERJACK site today...the affiliate at Ft. Hood.  Whatever workout they have planned for Saturday...I'll be doing it.

Many in the CrossFit community were affected by the tragic shootings at Fort Hood, but none as directly as one of our affiliates, Lumberjack Crossfit Four members of that affiliate were killed.

CrossFit is launching a hero WOD fundraiser for our four fallen Soldiers. On December 5th, we are asking affiliates and individuals to do two things: participate in the workout (as a display of solidarity with Lumberjack CrossFit) and to reach out to family, friends, and strangers to donate whatever you can.

With the help of the CrossFit community, we can assist the men and women at Ft. Hood and Lumberjack CrossFit to raise money for the families of the fallen, and the future needs of the approximately 30 wounded.

The long-term needs of these families and the wounded are significant; many of the wounded are still in intensive care. Most will not fully recover from being shot multiple times at near point blank range with a .357.

0900 - Woohoo!! Registered for St. A's!!

0810 - Today is WORLD AIDS DAY.  I am wearing red in support of all those who have fought the fight and lost, or who are currently fighting against HIV/AIDS.
I will write my race report for the 50K today some time.  So far, the soreness in my legs has all but gone away...except for in both of my Peroneus Longus (yes, I know that sounds funny).  Seems my ankle stabilizers have forgotten what REAL trail running is.  As far as Umstead was, there was really no unstable or technical running involved in it at all.  I think the last actual TRAIL ultra I did before Bartram 2009 was Bartram 2008.  I did a very technical trail half marathon in January, but at 13.1 miles, it didn't have time to really mess up my feet!

Tonight I decided to do some clean and jerk. I haven't done any Oly lifting in a while and I missed it. So...5 x 3 C/J's. I kept it somewhat light...even my heaviest was 20 pounds lighter than I know I could do...but it's been so long I didn't want to hurt myself.

3 reps at:
75, 85, 95, 115, 135

GOOD LUCK IM COZUMEL BTers!!

Especially my ROCKSTARS Janelle and Jon!

2212 - Janelle's in with a 14:12!  8 minute PR on a much harder course!  Way to go Janelle!
OK, Coach Q can go to bed with a smile now!  YAY for everyone at IMCozumel!!!

2205 - Jon's done with a 14:05!!  Woohoo!!

2055 - Janelle has this all but locked up...only 7 miles from the finish and she is still keeping up a decent pace.  I see a sub-14 in her future!  Jon is having a little faster run splits, so I'm wondering if he'll catch up!  I wish there was a video feed!!!

1720 - OK, Janelle's bike is up...still waiting for Jon's.  At least now I know that it's working.

1700 - Something is definitely wrong with the split timers...first they took away all the intermediate splits on the athlete tracker...now they don't even have them posted past a 6hr elapsed time.  What is going on down there?!?!  Jon and Janelle should probably both be off the bike by now.  It's making me nervous!!

1050 - Janelle absolutely KILLED the swim with a 1:06 this morning.  Jon was right on her heels at 1:16, but Janelle's sub-5-minute T-1 bought her more time.  It's on to the bike now!

My Garmin kept dropping out so I'm using the race's official clock time and distance. I can't rely on the Garmin when the trails are in deep woods.

Yay for another overall win in this race! Two years in a row. Not a bad record...2nd, 1st, 1st!

I'll do a race report soon!

1840 - OK so I checked the entrants list for the race tomorrow and there are SEVENTY PEOPLE in the race!!  This is more than TWICE the amount that have raced it in the past.  Last year, I think the ultra was 20 people and the marathon was about 15...this year the ultra has 44 and the marathon has 26 runners!  I have my work cut out for me tomorrow!!  And with a new course there's gonna be a lot of strategy involved in the race tomorrow.  I have to be ON THE BALL!!!  I hope everything goes right!!

0800 - Continuing my do-nothing week...one more rest day today and then Bartram Forest tomorrow!  We should be leaving for Georgia by around 1000 so we can be up there before dinner time.  Had a really nice day yesterday, it was pretty relaxing...we got some food at Boston Market, brought it to Shaun's, and watched GI Joe.  Easy fun holiday.
Today we'll drive up to Milledgeville, check in to our hotel, and then just eat and head to bed.  Early rise tomorrow.  At least I know it won't be raining.  Unlike last year though, it will NOT be pouring down rain...it will, however, be FREEZING like it was two years ago for the Bartram race.  With a new course this year, I have a chance to not only win it, but set the new course record since it's a new course!  The course record, as it stands, is 4:10.  We'll see how close I can get to that.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, FRIENDS!!

0730 - Well, it looks like this week is simply a rest week.  I haven't completed even ONE workout.  Yoga was definitely a sweat-producer the other night, but I haven't done and CF, or s/b/r at all.  Oh well...once in a while I guess it's a good thing to take a week off.
As of Sunday I'll be back on the Diet From HELL.  So at the very least, this is the calm before the storm.  My legs will probably thank me on Saturday at Bartram anyway.
Today we'll be spending the afternoon over at Shaun's, watching movies and eating food.  If I don't gain 5 pounds this week with all this eating and rest, I will be blown away.
