Instead of biking outside today in 45 degrees with 30mph wind for an hour, I decided to do a spin class and just make my difficulty higher than what was required. Seems like all the other area triathletes with LA Fitness memberships did this too...there were 5 of us with IM tattoos in the class today.
Just a quick 500 after spin class to rid my body of the sweat smell. The scent of chlorine is much more attractive. :)
1125 - Workouts are already done (gotta love taper) so now Bri and I can get our stuff done for the day. Networking dinner tonight, hopefully I can be a social butterfly and get some interest in my boot camps and training programs!

1510 - Rest day today. Not feeling well. Besides, my right hamstring is really sore from my long run on Sunday. I will get back to it tomorrow.

Another awesome spin class with Denise. I'm super thrilled with her classes...she better NEVER leave the gym. :)
Mostly hill and standing work today...a few jumps. Good stuff as usual.
Brian and I ran lots of errands today too, and of course I did spin class this morning...so it's been a productive day. Boot camp tonight! YAY!

Do NOT let the pace today fool you...this was NOT a good run today. I made a lot of mistakes. But the good news is, I learned alot. I plan to look at the mistakes I made today and see if I can fix them all in next week's last shorter tempo run.
My body was done at 12 miles today...I ran another 2.6 miles but they were NOT pretty. I had to walk the last mile and a half home, I had run 8 miles out before I turned around.
Here is a list of my mistakes and how I plan to remedy them next week.
1. Wrong shoes and socks. Wore my thick cold weather running socks and my smallest trainers. OUCH. It was warmer than I thought it'd be so my feet swelled. Blisters and hotspots. Next week, Newtons and thin socks.
2. Not enough nutrition and water. Tried to push thru the run today, with less nutrition than usual, but this was a bad idea. Next week, I'll stop for water and eat gel when I'm supposed to.
3. Wrong gel. Been using Hammer Gel for my LSD runs but in a tempo situation, it is acting a bit like the e-Gel...without the puking. Next week, I'm gonna try Roctane and if that doesn't work, back to the old standby, PowerGel...for race day.
4. Too much protein before the run. I ate eggs, bacon, and yogurt, with some milk. Made my stomach unhappy for the first few miles and it never really recovered. Next week, more carbs, less protein pre-run.
5. Too much clothing. I think I dehydrated myself with the amount of clothes I wore because I sweat too much, and that ties in with the "not enough water" thing. Next week, I'll wear exactly what I'm gonna wear on race day
Next week's run will basically be a short dress rehearsal for the marathon. I WILL get it right next week.
0845 - Long tempo run today! Gonna try to get 16 miles in, under 2 hours. Gonna wait til about 11 though, til the temperature is out of the 40's. Still gonna have to wear tights, but at least I won't have to wear a jacket!
