EXTERRRRMINAAAATE!

April 24

Swim #1
  • 11m 42s
  • 656.17 yards
  • 01m 46s /100 yards

First swim of the day with Bridget, Mimi, and Betsy. I only did 600 meters because I had to get to work at the expo by 10. Just wanted to get a feel for the water. I didn't use a wetsuit, and it wasn't that bad. But the water was pretty choppy. I will use a wetsuit for the race for the buoyancy.

Swim #2
  • 18m 01s
  • 1093.61 yards
  • 01m 38s /100 yards

Second swim of the day...used a wetsuit this time. Swam an out and back of the first 500m of the course for a total of 1000. Got thru the first 500 in about 8:25 so it wasn't too bad...but getting back was almost 2 minutes longer! Definitely a fight coming back but we won't be swimming that way tomorrow. Looks like we'll have a good current carrying us thru the back straight. It's gonna be an interesting day.

0710 - Big day today...gonna go down to the beach and swim a bit, then work the expo from 10-2...then another swim at 230 after bike dropoff.  Finally, dinner tonight with Shaun and Kelly.  My legs and back feel good today, so hopefully that'll continue!

1015 - LOOOOOONNG day on my feet.  But at least now my legs are feeling better.  My feet are thrashed from standing up all day, but I won't be working long tomorrow...just til 2.  Then I can relax.  Gonna swim tomorrow as well...definitely at 230pm, but maybe 9am if I can get myself out of bed in time.  I wanted to go watch Meek and Mighty, but I'm so exhausted from the long work day.

0920 - Today will be a rest day...I have to work at the expo all day.  Sorry I haven't been around much these last few days since Boston...it's been hell trying to catch up.  I've been working non-stop since I got back and I just can't seem to catch up.  Luckily I have 10 minutes to spend at Dunkin Donuts on their free wi-fi to even put this blog entry in.  UGH...I can't wait til this week is over so I can have a "normal" schedule again.

Straight out 1650 yards at the LA pool to approximate my 1500m swim time. I really hope it's better than this on Sunday...wetsuit and adrenaline better help!! No 28 minute swims for me this time.

2115 - It's done!

0740 - This day will be spent sitting, lying down, sleeping, and staring at screens while relaxing both my body, and my brain.  Rest days are good.  Tomorrow it's back to the grind once we're back in Tampa.  We pick up our new puppy tomorrow night!!  So excited!!
I think I shall write my RR today too...I think the experience has set in enough now that I'm ready to start putting it to "paper".  Should have it done by tonight.

Run

  • 26.20 miles
  • 07m 19s /Mi

Boston BABY!!!

Held a nice low 7's pace for the first half. Good paces up til about Mile 17. But then...THE HILLS. I totally think the hill at Mile 18 in Newton is more difficult than Heartbreak Hill.

The last two miles were pretty intense...I wanted a PR and I ran pretty hard. I got the sub-3:12 but I puked like 6 or 7 times upon finishing. Took me about 5 minutes to get moving again. After that, I felt okay...got my dry clothes, changed, met Bri, and headed back to the hotel so I could rest and drink some Coke to settle my stomach. Stopped for chicken soup on the way.

Another Boston in the books!!

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR ALL THE INSPIRES!!! :)
As usual, I'm humbled by my BT friends.  Thanks for trackin' me and keepin' up with my efforts!!  You guys rock!

1740 - This day did NOT go as planned.  But at least we're back in Boston, we got to meet up with Jess, and we're gonna go do dinner with Lisa.  Traffic was a mess, and the trains were packed, so the schedule went out the window today...luckily, we have lots of time to do what we need to do.  I still have to put my racing stuff together, but I will get that done before bed.  Now it's time to relax a bit before heading to dinner.
