OFF DAY.

 

Spent the day at the beach with Trixie and then relaxed at Timpano's with Renee with a couple glasses of wine and some Italian Wedding soup.  Perfect day off.  Friends, food, and fun.

Lots of waves in the last part, but still an easy swim. I like a challenge...this really didn't make much sense.

T1 - A FREAKING HALF MILE RUN to transition from the modified swim exit. Sheesh.

Decent bike today. It was VERY windy. I really felt as though I was able to power thru it and use the tailwind to my advantage. I don't think the headwind held me back too much...it was a good bike today. Especially since I only biked 9 miles all of April.

Good run today! I felt strong and fast the whole time. My first mile was slow but the rest of my miles, save for one in the middle where I had to run around a bunch of people and it wasted a few seconds.

In the last mile I picked it up and passed 3 age groupers. I saw Brian and Pete about 600m from the finis and I kicked it in! Great finish today!

Loooong day at the expo today. 10 hours on my feet is not the best idea. Rest day today. I will bike and run tomorrow. On a happier note...Michellie Jones hooked me up with a sweet new ISM Time Trial saddle today. Thanks MJ!!

I am so tired!!  I don't know why I just can't pull it together today. I slept all the way til 1030 this morning and I've just gotten up from an hour and 20 minute nap.  Gonna try to do my workout now...let's see if I can actually get thru it!

I worked all day setting up the St. A's expo tent so why I decided to run afterwards is beyond me. It needed to be done though. It was about 90 degrees and stupid humid out. Ran with superstar Matt Altimari. I don't know how he managed to run at my pace when he clearly was not even breathing hard and I was struggling. But, he was a trooper and stayed slow for me.

I forgot my running shoes at home so I grabbed some "defectives" out of the bin at work (they weren't really defective)...Brooks Racer ST-4's. Decent shoe actually. I know, of course, with my Newtons I would have been faster.

We did manage to negative split all the miles today. That is, in my opinion, a miracle, given the conditions and the tiredness we both were feeling.

Two years ago today, the world lost a pure soul. Terri was my soul-sister in every sense of the word. She was a miracle in my life...brought me thru MANY challenges and we faced MANY of them together. Today I will remember the good times, not the bad. Even in the face of death, she smiled...she was probably the happiest person I've ever known.

So many times I've seen myself and others complain about our lives because of financial stress or a missed opportunity or something trivial like that.  But Terri was 100 times happier than all of us, and she had a terminal disease.  She was the model of positivity whenever she could be.  If more people were as happy as she was, this world would be a better place.  I'm sure of it.

  

So many memories.  I could post pictures for miles here.
