2010 - Will the heart let me train?
November 8
November 7
General Aerobic + Speed
4 of the shorter laps (1.7 mile loop) around the neighborhood with 8 x 100 strides mixed in.
Ankle/shin area is more noticeable on the downhills, but it didn't seem to affect my performance.
Not hard pace, just steady cruise with the accelerations (2 per lap). Felt okay, didn't think I was going that fast really.

Rest/cross day.
Rest for me.
Having a weird issue with my ankle/shin. It's like where the muscle on the shin connects to the ankle area. It's very sore, almost like a tear or strain. Going to stretch today periodically and see how it feels for my run tomorrow. Not too worried as it doesn't feel like anything major, just something that got worked a little hard (actually noticed it on my Saturday run, so it didn't bother me much yesterday during my 17).

Long
7 (almost) loops at Centennial Park. Wanted to make sure I didn't go too fast as I have been with my last few long runs, which was easy to do because I was pretty fatigued today.
Just didn't feel like I had anything in the tank. Glad when this run was over.

Recovery + Speed
4 miles with 6 x 100 strides mixed in. Uneventful run other than it was damn cold and windy.
Well, they supposedly passed the water test yesterday which was the last official thing the County needed for the Use and Occupancy release. Which means once they get that we can "officially" move in.
HOWEVER, we are still not happy with all the work and many of the things in the home inspection we had done are not corrected yet. And the shower door in our bathroom is not even installed all the way, the foyer chandelier has no bulbs, the fireplace does not work still (gas), etc. etc. So we will not be moving in until they fix all their fuck-ups. May be another week or two .....

Rest/Cross training.
Rest day. Got a good nights sleep even though Mir had some sort of stomach bug and hurled a bit before we went to bed. I don't think the baby woke up too much or if he did I didn't ......
Starting to visualize what I want to accomplish next week at the Jingle Bell Run. Last year I got 10th overall and 2nd in the 30-34 AG. This year I'd like to push it and place top 3 overall if I can. That really depends if the real fasties show up or if it is like last year where the top three barely cracked 19 (it is a 3.2 mile course, not a true 5k though ......). As long as I don't over-cook the first mile I should be able to hang strong.

General Aerobic
Cold, heavy rain, windy. Needless to say I didn't have a great run. First half (out) was in my face and I never got into any sort of rhythm with dodging puddles and cars and the wind.
Second half (back) was better with some tailwinds, but still not that great. Ankle/shin was more noticeable again. But as I mentioned yesterday, it is really more apparent on the downslopes. Tomorrow is a rest day and Friday is a short recovery day, then I'm not running Saturday as scheduled so I can be ready to kick ass in the Jingle Bell 5k on Sunday. Shooting for big results ....
