2010 - Will the heart let me train?

Taken today and tomorrow off from workouts. Wouldn't you know it ...... to go right along with my last two running races I am developing a cold. The two older kids have been hacking and coughing for days and the old nanny got it too. I was hoping to survive until after the race before getting it, but it looks that that isn't happening. Why the f--k can't I make it through to a race day without getting sick right before it???? This will make the third race in a row I'll have been sick! I'm f--king pissed ........ >:-(

2 easy big laps around the neighborhood. Just wanted to cruise easy and not push at all - get some recovery/base miles in the legs and try to be fresh for Sunday.

Did not ride last night, went with Mir and looked at the house and posted some "No Trespassing" signs since we have had people walking on the site and in the house. Bunch of nosey bastards in the neighborhood! ;)

Didn't ride last night. Had to go to Brendan's baseball game to watch and take him home. Didn't get home until 8:20, so was done for the day. Will try to get out tonight for a spin (don't want to push hard this week because I want to do well at the 10k).

Three loops around neighborhood in the Fastwitch shoes (getting ready for Sunday). First was moderate, second was moderate push (6:41 average for the 1.7 mile lap) and third was moderate easy.

Having not really run much this past month I'm slightly concerned I may have lost some speed for the 10k event. To break 42 minutes I've got to average around 6:50-ish which is not that bad, but with my running fitness level and the course (Bay Bridge over the Chesapeake) it may be tougher than normal.

(Ultimate goal would be to break 40 minutes, but not sure if that will happen!)
