Long.

8 laps at Centennial. Started off with my jacket, lost it after the first lap because it was getting warmer. Took the gloves off on the last lap. Definitely warmed up!

The park was packed by the time I finished. Saw someone from work their with her husband and their dog. Last lap picked up the pace of course. Last two miles were 6:47 and 6:25.

Last 20 of the Boston training today.  Plan is to take it at an average pace and try not to go too fast (as I usually do).

Picked up the Dura Ace goodies yesterday on one of our errands and shot the stuff with Paul (the owner of the shop) for a few minutes.  He's still waiting for pricing for the Zipps, and then we'll order my 999's.

WOOHOO!!  Boston bib numbers are up and corrals!!  The first number is the corral.  So I'm in the 5th:

Busy day!  Lots of things to do to get ready for my friend and his family coming over.  Plus we had to drop off Mir's Pilot to get a trailer hitch put on early, so no morning workout.  Plan is to try and get a trainer ride after they leave this afternoon.

Ended up making it a dinner, so no workout.  Had a good time though.

Swim

  • 01m 52s /100 yards

5 x 300 (5:54, 5:40, 5:36, 5:33, 5:37)
5 x 200 (3:43, 3:42, 3:38, 3:39, 3:42)

Probably my best swim ever. Just felt good in the water and stayed smooth. Pace on the first 100 of each interval was in the high 1:40's. Finally had "one of those days" on the good scale!!

Getting my windshield replaced today, so I have to sit by the phone waiting for the mobile repair truck to call.  So I'm home from work until that happens, and no workout yet.  Scheduled swim, but not sure what the mid-day times are, need to check online for them.  If not then I'll squeeze some sort of ride in.

Windshield is fixed.  In the office right now.  Going to search about pool times now.

General Aerobic

Out and back to I-95. Finally had a decent run! Felt good the whole way and concentrated on smooth cadence and keeping my head in the run.

When I got on the scale after my ride last night and after taking a leek, I was at 5.3% body fat and around 172-ish.  I think that my ideal race weight is right around 170 or in the high 160's, which is where I am right now.  The key after my taper starts next week is to make sure I eat well enough to fully recover and rebuild my glycogen stores, but not over do it and put on much weight.  If I want to have any shot at breaking 3 the next few weeks are critical ....... I already figured that to have a chance at it I will need to hit the 20 mark right around 2:15 or so which is a 6:45 pace to that point.

Bike
  • 41m 30s
  • 15.00 miles
  • 21.69 Mi/hr

Intervals.

15 minute warm up spinning 39x16 @ 100+ on level 3.
1 minute 53x16 at 100 (about 26.0 mph or so).
1 minute easy spin in 39x16.
2 minutes 53x16.
2 minutes 39x16.
3 minutes on. 3 off. 4 on, 4 off, 5 on.
Short cool down until it hit 15 miles on the odometer.

First bike interval workout I've done since last year, so I didn't go down the ladder like I usually would, plus it's late and I need to get to bed so I can do my 10 miles GA tomorrow morning. ;-P

Baby sitter couldn't take the oldest to school, so it's my job.  No swim today.  May end up making it a - gasp - rest day.  Or may ride after work on trainer since I didn't get to last night (had to work late, then come home and make dinner and get kids to bed).

And my Boston jacket did show up yesterday.  It's frickin' sweet!  Even my wife likes it!  I'm probably going to have her embroider my finishing time and name on it after the race.  She has a pretty nice embroidery sewing machine that she got to do quilting and is getting really good with it.

  • 9.20 miles
  • 07m 54s /Mi

VO2 Max.

w/u - 2.6 miles to school track
4 x 1,200 @ 5k pace with 400 recovery. Splits were not great at all with a 4:35, 4:45, 4:47, 4:48. But the heart rate was through the roof.
c/d - 2.6 mile recovery back to house. Took about a mile and a half before the heart rate was back into the 150's.

Today's run was more of a mental challenge than most. Really had to push myself to actually do the intervals.

Unless I'm getting my orders mixed up, it looks like UPS will be delivering my Boston jacket today.  Can't wait to see it!  It was $90, but this is a once in a lifetime thing for me, so I'm splurging! ;)

Also ordered my Dura Ace cranks, bottom bracket and front der. for the Felt yesterday.  Ended up going with 177.5's and not 180's for length.  We'll see how that works out.  Damn they were pricey ..... even at wholesale cost they were $293!!
