Did the evens moderately hard, odds easy. Definitely tried. But it felt good for the legs to not have to work so hard.

Definite rest day.  Legs were really tender after last night.  Supposed to be in full on off-season mode, so need to start thinking that way!

Recovery

2 of the loops with the kids at x-country practice. Even this pace was a little bit of a struggle, but it felt alright overall.

Legs are sore (duh), and slept like a rock most of the night.  We got up later than usual so were running behind this morning.  Kids x-country practice tonight.  We'll see if I run with them or not.  Gonna be crazy slow if I do!

Well earned rest day.  Taking Brendan to his x-country meet later and meeting a friend to review one of his projects for code compliance for him (he started his own firm last year).

RR is up.

  • 26.20 miles

Time should be close to chip time on the computer, it is watch time by my watch.

Started off solid, was holding 3:12 pace up to about mile 19, then really started to fall off. Never cramped, but definite fatigue from nothing longer than 12 miles since LP and Boston.

Edit: 3:21:40 officially, 195 out of 3114 total so top 10% of the field easily. Not too shabby on no training!

Off to the races!  Thanks for all the well wishes.  Let's see what the day brings!

October 10

As always, full rest day before race day.

No idea what to expect tomorrow.  I know I have no long distance endurance right now (at least at pace), so I have no clue what I can run realistically.  Should I pace slow and just run with the relay team from our office?  Their goal is in the 3:50 - 4:00 range.  Or should I just go out there and run relatively easy recovery pace and be in the 3:30 - 3:45 range?  Or will I be an idiot and just run how I feel and see what the day brings and hope I don't blow up??

  • 4.20 miles
  • 08m 04s /Mi

Recovery

4 loops at x-country practice with some of the other dads (both are 2:4X marathoners). Relaxed pace, not a lot of effort. Felt good.

Slept in again, then took the kids to school.  Will run an easy 3 to 5 recovery at x-country practice tonight (unless they need me to coach).  Going to pick up my packet at lunch for Saturday.  It's going to be almost perfect temps on race day (starting in the 50's) but could get a little warm as the day goes on, and it will be bright and sunny ....... it would be better overcast.
