Rest day.
Watched the women's olympic trials. Great race venue, great race and exciting to watch. Deena Kastor is an amazing runner!
Rested the rest of the day and had some lobster and clams out with Mir.

Recovery
2 of the shorter loops around the hood. Just another run, nothing remarkable. Still cold out in the morning (around 34 at my house).
I took advantage of the Giro promotion through Team Zoot Gu today. Ordered the Advantage 2 helmet. Should see it in a week or two! And the price rocked.
The frame was shipped yesterday, so I should have that by Tuesday when I get back from Boston. Woohoo!!

Pacing Dress Rehearsal
4 miles at marathon effort for HR (even though I do not plan on running at that effort come race day as I do not have the long distance mileage in the legs for the race). Pace per mile was 7:08, 7:02, 6:41, 6:54 for those first 4 miles. Works out to about 6:54 pace at an effort level of right around 174 bpm, which would be my marathon HR range in a perfect setting.

Recovery
Two easy loops around the hood. Frickin' 28 degrees out ...... in the middle of April .....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!
Going to the shop after work to order a bunch of really light parts for my build (swapping most over from Sheila, so only need things like a lighter fork, bars, stem, etc.). Then we're going to Red Robin for burgers and beer to celebrate my day.

Once again, same result as last year. But it came about in a different way.
I paced myself well early, kept my effort level in check, stayed on top of my HR and made sure I was hitting my hydration and my gels.
But it still doesn't f-cking matter. I still started to lock up and cramp up around 19 or so. I had even backed off the pace as we neared Newton so that I could make it through.
Started the cramp/walk at 20 (so I walked Heartbreak this year) and tried to run as much as I could, which wouldn't last long because of the cramping in my right calf and left quads/hamstrings.
Bottom line, slacking off the last two months by not doing any long runs killed me.
I seriously dislike racing this distance. Even when I try to take it easier and race smart I still have a crappy day. Yes, I knew it wasn't going to be easy because of my decreased training, but still, this was f-cking ridiculous. I'm seriously not planning on ever running another stand alone marathon and I'm really close to pulling out of LP knowing that it is going to be the same sort of thing (undertrained).
Not happy at all ........>:(
