2010 - Will the heart let me train?

Medium loop.

Started from home, went down 216 and through Laurel, up Rt. 1 to Montgomery Rd., turned and rode that in until it turned in 103 and then rode that over through St. John's, to 108 and then rode about 2/3rds of the Columbia Tri course.

Gawd damn Blackbird is fast! I was going relatively easy for effort knowing that I have not ridden this long since November at FL. Tired a little towards the end, but still able to fly along in the 23 - 28 range on the flats. It is a very rolling loop and once on the course I took most of the hills easy.

Great ride! Felt good to get out there and crank it. Amazingly able to stay aero for most of the ride. Guess I haven't lost as much as I thought in the last 6 months ....

Short brick

One loop around the hood. Started off a little slow and the left quad was like "What the hell is this?? Didn't we just ride over 50? Now you want me to run??? I don't think so!" And it started to cramp. But I can run through those ... just not calf cramps! ;)

Worked itself out after another 1/2 mile or so and just continued on at an even relaxed pace.

Had a great time yesterday.  Father-in-law, Auntie and our old nanny and her husband left around 10-ish so it went on all day!

Birthday party to take the oldest to and then going for a nice long ride!

Up until 3:30 working on food for the party today.  Grumpy, tired and not at all happy because of all that.  Hopefully I'll warm up as the day goes on.  No run this morning because of that which doesn't help.  Maybe try to sneak out for something this afternoon after the party.

Nothing.  Still eating/drinking/playing.  Another rest day ...... so be it .......

Worked until around 11:15, then went home, got in bed and got back up at 6:30 to get the oldest one up and ready for school.  The middle one is really sick and got sent home in the afternoon yesterday so is staying home today.  Means I'm driving the oldest in to school.  Plus have to finish up that portion of the project that needs to get sent out today.  And then it is the oldest's First Communion tomorrow, so cleaning the house and getting ready for guests to come over.

Needless to say, the chances of me getting any sort of workout in are reallllyyyy slim.

Recovery

Two of the shorter loops around the hood. Half tick above recovery pace but not meant to be, just that it felt like I was going a bit slower than I was.

I have a sore throat and two of the little ones have another cold, so I might be getting it.

Have to work late tonight for that project I'm doing in PA, so no ride tonight even though it is supposed to be nicer out.  Then it is going to rain the next 4 or 5 days.  Plus it is the oldest ones First Communion on Saturday so we are going to be very busy with a small party afterwards.  Oh well.

New TT PR!!!! Considering I've only swam about 13,000 yards combined in the last two months and barely 30k for the year I'm psyched about that!!

Loop through Highland, Olney and Clarksville on the Scott. Maiden voyage with nice rolling terrain (read ... constant hills).

She climbs like a dream and it is a shame my fat azz is out of cycling shape because she is definitely more bike than I've got fitness for! Very planted, responsive and effortless acceleration. Yummy!!!

General Aerobic

Out and back to my side of 29 on 216. Out portion was pushed to pretty much normal training pace (right around 7 minute pace) and the return was backed off a little (around 7:30 pace). Feeling a little fatigued though.

Bike build is all done!  I'll be taking some pics and then posting all the stats and info. in a pjorn thread.  I'll also be putting the Giant frame up on the classifieds and/or auction block soon.

Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Mom!!  She is the big 6 0 today .............

Okay swim. Really need to get in the pool more and will be really concentrating on not slacking off in the next few months. I can't afford to!!

Feel pretty good overall though. Not sore to the touch like I was most of last week. We'll see how tomorrow's run goes.

Brought the fork and the seatpost in to take to the shop to cut it (I don't have a blade guide at home, so will go to the shop to do it there).  I need about an inch off of the fork and can take about two or three off of the seatpost (it was a 350, all I could get in that model).  The fork was 296 grams before cutting and the seatpost was 191.  We'll see how much the cutting knocks off. ;)

With cages and pedals and uncut seatpost/fork the bike weighed in at 15.5 ........ kept looking at all my numbers seeing where the "bust" was and figured I had estimated the wheels/tires/tubes/cassette but when I actually went down and weighed those there was a 218 gr. difference between what is advertised and what they actually weigh ... grrrrrrr.  That's a 1/2 pound!!  I did buy lighter tubes, so I'll get those put in soon.  But it is all not going to get the complete bike below 15 like I was hoping.

May be time to break out the Zero Gravity brakes and go to SRAM red for the shifters and rear derrailleur.  Those would take out well over 250 grams and easily get me below 15!!

Damn big frames weigh too much ........ why do I have to be so tall??? Tongue out
