8th marathon completed. This was the hilliest and hottest marathon (85 degrees) I have run. This was my biggest mental accomplishment thus far as I haven't trained for this distance due to IM training. My longest run has only been 11 miles and I haven't gone over 25 miles in any week of training. I wouldn't advise running a marthon with such minimal training but I proved it can be done.
Overall an very well run marathon. Plenty of water, salt, gatorade and amublances. Had to be at least 50 ambulance working non stop after about 2 hours into the race.
The heat is the ultimate equalizer amongst athletes. Saw way too many runners in the med tents and laying or sitting on the side of the road receiving aid. I am so happy with having some experience in this distance to know when to back off, take in more fluids, salt etc.
Quads are sore and an issue I have had with my right foot for over a year is making me limp but with ice and ibuprofin over the next two days I will be up and running again.
Music City Marathon is a must for those who love hills!
