Tough Ride

Tried to find my Lance legs today, but man it was tough. I took a different route today that included a few miles of ~4% grade. It wasn't hard to hold 12-13 mph, but I wanted to hold more like 17 :) Guess I'm greedy. Just couldn't pull it off. Did manage to hit 37 on a couple of the downhills, but didn't make up the difference enough to keep the avg. up. So much for ever getting as fast as the pros... Oh well, still had a great time!

Lunch Swim

Didn't have as much time today for swimming since I had to buy new goggles before the swim. But still managed to get in what I normally do. It was reasonably good :) Hopefully I'll be ready for Spudman--- I should be, after all, it's a cheater swim!

Rainy Canyon Run

Wasn't lucky enough to get to run just down the canyon today. Had to run uphill for half of this run today starting out and finishing, not to mention the rain that I was running in. Started out strong but toward the end I was wiped. Still, a decent finish time for a canyon run (3-4% grade). Probably should do more of these if I want to get stronger...

Tour de Gym

Rode the bike at the gym while watching tour de France coverage. It was great, especially when they were showing shots from trailing support cars. Felt like I was riding in the tour! Definitely helped my speed.

10K Run

Changed it up today with an out-n-back run. It's been awhile since I've run an out-n-back and it actually really helped break things up. After you've run every route you can think of in your neighborhood, it starts to get hard to find the motivation to get out there and run. Honestly, the treadmill has been sounding better lately because it's a change of scenery (yikes!). I really need to get together with some other guys and run Winchester again. That'd be great, and it'd bring back good memories.

At least I got it done. The run today should have been faster, but all things considered (I was very tired, and it was warm), the time was decent. I stopped a few times and walked on this run, and still avg'd 8:30/mi pace. Just imagine how good the run would have been without the stops! Gotta get to bed earlier than 1am... ;)

Morning Ride

Took yet another tour of the southwest corner of the valley. I'm going to need to change it up one of these days and drive to a canyon/other area for my ride. It's convenient to ride out the door, but the scenery looks too familiar, so it's not exciting. I might need to explore the Alpine Loop again... that route is b-e-a-youtiful ;-)

In any case, got a decent ride in. Gotta keep my legs up for Spudman!
