One Step at a Time...

1st run since IM. Man, this felt great. Nothing hurts and I feel more relaxed than ever. Why? Who knows. But I'll take it. I'll take the week as "recovery", just like I'm supposed to, but next week, it's back to business. I have a 10K to smoke in a few weeks.

Just some pushups and dips after the run. I'm gonna get some good muscle on these bone over the next 6 months and come out of next Spring on a much OVERALL fitter platform.
DAY 4 WITHOUT GARMIN
7:50. I had some HISTORY with my oatmeal this morning. Woke up to a new President Elect.
Gonna finish my tea, put on my running stuff and hit the road to see what my legs will allow me to do. Supposed to be a easy 3 mile run. I "feel" awesome, so hopefully that will continue during the run.
November 4
Went with Mary to the pool.
Wow, what a relaxing swim. No agenda except to just relax and feel good.
4 X 100 swim, kick, pull, swim,
Then just 20 laps beyond that.
Man, I felt like a million bucks when I got out. I feel practically at 100% again. WOW, that has NEVER happened THAT fast! Did some Around the worlds on deck while Mary finished her swim.

DAY 3 WITHOUT GARMIN
Great day! We got in at about 6:30 last night. We picked up Chinese and beer on the way home, had dinner, scattered our belongings round the house and then watched TRUE BLOOD before hitting the sack.
Mary and I took Conor to school this morning, hit the pool for a workout, hit Starbucks..of course. We then went to Verizon to reconnect an old phone we had. My phone crapped out in Florida, so we had aa old phone at home that was turned off, but I got it charged up and turned back on, but my old phone list would not transfer over, so the nice people at my local Verizon did it manually. Yea. We then went and voted. We've lived in the same house for nearly 15 years and we have to vote at 2 seperate places that are about 500 yards apart. So freaking wierd. I had to wait to vote about 5 minutes and Mary had about a 10 minute wait. No big deal.
Came home and did some yard work. A large branch had fallen from our back yard tree and broke a small section for our wooden privacy fence. So, I got out the old Zaw Saw and cut that sucker into pieces small enough for our Chiminea, as well as a few other branches that I've neglected to cut over the last several months of training. It's gonna be a goond chiminea season! Raked leaves. Unpacked some more and popped a nice cold Sam Adams Winter Lager. OH YEA!
Time to pick up Conor and chill out!

DAY 2 WITHOUT GARMIN
Uber travel day today. 12+ hours of hauling ass north. The kiddies are about to get tied to the roof rack.
Thanks again for all of the text messages, emails and inspires! My BT friends were certainly on my mind alot during the race. Having a great SUPPORT team was very important. Friends and family made this thing possible and if you don't have the support of THOSE people, then what's the point of all this stuff anyhow.
Thankyou.

Distance is a guess. Met the BT Force at the bag check in area behind the Boardwalk Hotel. Mimi, Jeff, along with Cube..and Jess, as well as several others. We made our way to the water, which was considerably more choppy today. It was apparent from the beginning that a different style of swimming was necessary to adapt to the swells this morning. However, after I got into the groove of it, it was no big deal except for siting the bouys. The swells made it difficult to find them, but I understand they will be much bigger on race day. Also, I'll probably just be following the other lemmings towards some distant point anyhow. We stopped at the bouy, looked around, commented about the swells, and started back. I feel really good in the water here, salt water in the mouth and all. There was a rip tide, so siting is a bit more important on a day like this, or else you get swept in some distant direction.
Came back to hotel, and Mary went for a short run while I put my running stuff on and made up my first TRANSITION BAG. Then she returned and I went out for a short run. I feel great. All systems are apparently GO. Tomorrow is SUCH a big Question Mark...I hope I don't Fuc( this up.
7:45am. Getting ready to do the morning swim. Gonna meet Jeff and other BT'ers. Later, I have a little 2 mile run, then back to the room to get my bags ready before taking the bike and bags to the checkin. YIKES. Every little step is ONE STEP closer to the big race.
1:15pm. Got back from run, cleaned wetsuit and took shower, then put the rest of my Transition bags together, readied the bike, and then transported it all down to TRANSITION. Mary helped me "think", so everything should be there and ready. Erin sherpa'd my bags for me. I racked my bike, then put my bags in their area. I then did a DRY RUN THROUGH of the path I'll take that morning to do all of my entries, exits and transitions. I need to make physical/mental notes of stuff like this so it's there in my brain somewhere when it's time to make it happen for real. MUSCLE MEMORY. Afterwards, we made our daily trip to STARBUCKS to get Mochas and such. Now Mary and kids are at beach while I relax at condo. Time to kick back.
