One Step at a Time...

Did next weeks IM bike routine. It was a tough one, but I feel I am much stronger than the last time I started this program. I've accomplished my goal from 2 years ago: GET MORE RIDING UNDER MY BELT AND BECOME A STRONGER RUNNER: Mission accomplished....no...really.
Got my LT results back. VERY HAPPY! My LT hasn't really changed in the last 2 years...only dropped by 1, but my pace at to get to those zones has improved a great deal apparently. So I can go faster and further without raising my heart rate. EXCELLENT!!! Let's hope that means I can use that to improve my IM time this year. I love geeky data! Good info has got me excited to really tear this one up! I don't do these often JUST for this reason. Not quantity....QUALITY!
Got home from work and practiced with Conor on his bike...still trying to master being on 2 wheels....very elusive. Then we practiced some baseball. Just tossing ball today. He's got a pretty good throw...just needs to get used to catching. Might have some PITCHING potential. After that I hopped on the trainer. I could have rode outside. It was plenty nice out today, but I wouldn't have gotten as hard of a workout as a trainer ride doing intervals. Mary made a super great dinner and then I threw frisbee with the dog and had some wine. Not bad for a day in Kentucky.

Out for the first real road ride of the year. Went out with Nik. It was a easy ride. Wanted to push it a bit, but Nik wasn't up to it, so we just got some talking in and enjoyed the ride and the weather. Need to get my old Wednesday night group back together so I can have those incredible hard rides every week.

LT test. I am a freak of nature apparently...but in a good way. Drove up to Maderia and met with Kathy. Down to her basement where she has her treadmill set up for the test. I walked and did a slow jog. We got some base line blood done, then cranked it up to 7:08 pace. We pushed it up .3mph every 5 minutes, but my heart rate and LTs kept either NOT moving, or at one point going lower! I got into the high 5 minute miles and still no big moves. The last 2 were the clinchers. When it got to 5:24 minute miles, it finally pushed me into my LT....geez....11.7 miles for a LT test! Ouch. Good data though...and a hell of a workout to boot!
I'm glad I didn't swim this morning. Hard LT test. After test, Mary and I bee lined to Starbucks, then drove home.
Getting a nasty headache.
Finn graduates from puppy class tonight.....I wonder if he gets an official diploma...cap and gown?

Good run, but my HR felt a bit high and it felt like a harder effort than it should have, but no problems really. Was it the new and improved slightly warm weather?
