After a T1 of 2:19 I hit the road on my bike. I felt like crap on my bike because (once again) I had eaten to much prior to the race. I felt like I was gonna vomit half of my breakfast the entire ride. My HR was indeed high at the beginning of the ride. When I got my HRM on I saw that it was above 150 which is pretty high for me during the swim and also for biking. I took it easy the first few miles so I could get it down below 150. The high HR and the breakfast burrito made this particular ride less enjoyable than I'd hoped. I really need to work on my bike.
The run felt great after a T2 of 1:27. This was my best part of the race. I actually got a second wind on the last half of the run. My stomach was fine once I got off the bike and I finished well with an overall time of 1:25:07, 6th in my age group and 60th overall.
Beach start into mild surf. Lots of us weren't ready when the horn went off. We were busy moving down the beach to get a better line on bouy #1. The water was crowded and I had to stop several times in order to keep from crawling over someone or to get out of someone's way. I guess I was pushing myself harder than I should have during the swim because when I got out of the water my HR felt like it was really high. The water was warm and the swim went okay.
Race Day! :)
I am now officially a TRIATHLETE!

Today I broke my cherry at the Kalaeloa Sprint. Once again, I ate to much prior to the race and felt like crap during the swim and bike. Once I got off the bike I felt okay. I had a good time nonetheless. I finished in less than 90 mins which is better than I thought I would do so I'm happy with my results. It is quite clear that I need to work on my biking. That seems to be my weakest leg of the three. Wo0T! I'm a triathlete now! :)
Edit: I adjusted the times after finding the website where they were posted.

Today was a day off. Drove out and checked the course for tomorrow's race. It is very flat and the swim looks a little shallow. I don't know if there are any rocks so I'll have to enter the water with caution. I can't wait!

I went for a short 30 min run this morning. No HRM and unsure of distance.

Kailua Beach Park again today. This time I swam the opposite direction. Conditions were pretty smooth however swimming east at that time of day made it difficult to see where I was going due to the sun. I ended up swimming quite wide and most assuredly added unnecessary distance to my swim.
Not sure what to do today. A ride would probably be best but the schedule doesn't look good for it. I think the best chance would be for a swim after I drop the kids at school. The family and I will spend Wed and Thu on Kauai so I'll try to get an easy run and some core work in while we're there. Friday will be an off day prior to the Kalaeloa Sprint.
* I called the race organizers for Saturday's event and they told me that it wasn't going to be a large field. I haven't registered yet and they said they didn't forsee me having any problems registering at the race. They said they'll even have shirts available for race-day-registrations! :)

That distance has to be off. I know I didn't run that slow. I'll measure it again in the car and make sure.
Okay... it came out to 9 miles even. I still thought I was sub 10 min/mile but I guess my cold made it feel that way.
Well, the wife has been home all weekend sick from work. She's got a cold with some bronchitis. She's been battling it all weekend. Well, guess who's got it now? :( I'm feeling the constiction in my chest and the all over body chills. Blah... I hate being sick. At least I got my run in already today.
