Aweful. No energy at all. Don't know what the problem is but that sucked big time. Its been a really long time since I've been depressed on a run. Ick.

On the coaching front...I only had one person show to my Wednesday morning track workout. Bummer. I train with this person so I know her and we had fun regardless. Top of the month so we ran 1/2s. Less time in between due to the cold. We'll see how next week goes. I have a Tuesday and Wednesday group. The Tuesday group will have at least 5 that I know of. I'm looking forward to it.

November 1

Run
  • 41m 09s
  • 5.70 miles

Recovery run and my quest to find a "hill" in Oak Park / Forest Park that isn't part of a parking garage.

Found one. An overpass - Circle Drive over the I290 Expressway. I would be better served to run this earlier in the morning. Still several up and overs and this would be a really good workout. Especially since I'm runner #6 for the Run Chicago team in the River to River Relay in downstate Illinois in April. More on that later.

Had my first track workout this morning. One person showed but we got the word out late so that was expected. Top of the month so the workout of choice was 800 repeats. The number of sets determined by your current weekly mileage. This a Yasso of sorts but we are a little lax with the rest. The other coach I work with said I will need to invest is some Uggs to stay warm at the track. I scoffed at this but with this mornings temps at 30 and the windchill in the twenties I am rethinking. Maybe not Uggs, per se, but more than the old Nike hiking boots that I had on. Keen maybe? I don't know.

Jschmitchicago is having hip problems. I think I isolated the problem to the TFL (I can someone tell me how to pronounce the 'L' as it is spelled Latae - I think its pronounced like Latte - think coffee - but jschmitchicago disagrees) muslce (part of the hip flexor). She doesn't have pain in abduction or adduction of the hip or even extension. Its all in the flexion - expecially from a laying position.

October 28

Run
  • 1h 56m 25s
  • 15.00 miles
  • 07m 45s /Mi

Started running with jschmitchicago. She was having problems that you can read about on her blog. Our run lasted all of 2 miles. I ran the rest by myself but I tried to mimick our Marathon pacing plan...running the first two thirds with her and then the last third at whatever I can manage (its a long story). Longest run to date on this training plan.
