I actually have no idea how long it took me. I did include 4 half mile speed drills to increase my effort. Two reasons for this. One - I will miss the track workout this week. And two - because I am inserting several efforts like this prior to long runs to prep me for the Goofy's Challenge as part of the Disney Marathon Weekend in January (1/2 mary on Sat and full mary on Sunday). The plan is to PR the half and pace jschmitchicago for the full. Its not the distance or the effort that has me worried. Its the recovery between races.

I went out this morning with a new shoe. The Fila rep was by the store yesterday and I am wear testing the Fila Providence. Its their entry level nuetral cushion shoe. It would compare against the Nike Pegasus, Saucony Ride, Mizuno Wave Rider, Asics Cumulus and Brooks Radius to name a few. The biggest selling feature for me was the fact that the guy who developed the wave technology at Mizuno is in charge of product delopment for Fila. The upper is minimal and for the most part seemless. The heel cradle (plastic - like the wave plate) is fantastic. I felt really close to the ground in this one but always felt like my foot was cradled. Its not pillowey like some shoes so I feel like my effort goes into propelling me forward and not into adjusting to an extra soft impact. I was really suprised by this shoe. I look forward to many more good miles in it.

Getting out late with all the traffic this morning this felt more like Fartleks than a real run.

The park across the way has two sets of concrete steps up a short hill. I rode one set up and down for 10 minutes of so. Combo two at a time to act like step up lunges and then taking every one as fast a I could as a suedo speed/power training session.

Two days until Disney. We're staying at Sartoga Springs (onsight Disney property) which has several pools. One of which is about 25 yards long at its greatest width. I wonder what kinda looks I'll get when I head over to that pool in the morning for laps. Of course I'll be finished before most folks get out of bed. Training doesn't take a vacation.

Run with the OPRC. Felt great. Ran slower than I wanted to but I wanted to run with Marty a guy who pushed me into my first sub 7 10 milers last year. He's nursing a knee injury and yesterday was the first day he pushed it in a while. I owed it to him to do a little pacing. I know when he gets back to full he'll be pulling me on some nights.

Looking at it now why didn't I do another 50 to make it an even 1200. Oh well. Run tonight with Oak Park running club.

Core stability workout in circuit fashion. Followed up by some multiplanar hop to balance and some plyometric box (bench) jumps.

Three more day until Disney, the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and my first ride on Everest at Animal Kingdom. Wingin it to O-Town with jschmitchicago on Thursday afternoon. We're meeting another friend of ours for the weekend. 10 days of nothing but the Mouse. Can't wait.

I really don't know my time today. Went out in recovery mode but finished around race pace. My right calf is sore after yesterdays race.

DVR'd biggest loser and am watching right now. I hate watching other people workout on TV (even racing like watching the Lifetime Fitness tri series or any of the IMs). It makes me jealous and and feeling lazy.

Can't think of anything else right now so I'll spare you the pain of my random thoughts. But I will give a big shout out to those baseball bengals! Tigers clinched at least a wildcard today with the series sweep of the Royals. Want the division title though. It would suck to lose it in the final week of the season.
