I want more!

And so the quest for the Goofy Challenge begins. jschmitchicago and I began our Marathon training today. I ran the first little bit with her and finished on my own. We also went to the gym to begin the stability portion of our off-season traithlon weight program. We're calling it Road to HIM 2007.
This is going to be a tricky fall training season. I am running with jschmitchicago as much as I can while trying to keep my own training for a 1/2 mary PR. I don't want to double my miles but need to insert plenty of race pace or near race pace training. Tricky.

Again, great morning. Crisp. Slight wind. Legs are full of lead but still pushed hard. Gotta head back to the store today. Busy with the Labor Day sale. The Gleukos cooler leaked all over the store. Gotta call the rep. Not a good out the door impression with the runners coming in to sample the product. Wonder what kind of make good I'll get for this one.

First half felt great. Nice brisk morning and I started the run with jschmitchicago. We parted after the first 1.5 then I really coasted through the next 5. Met up with the running group from the store bI was only supposed to set up the post run drinks (we're sampling Gleukos /www.gleukos.com - the official sports drink of USATF and really great stuff). Got roped into doing part of the run. Won't say why as it will make a boring post even more of a snooze fest. ended up with 12 miles in the pocket. More than I wanted but with the weather it was great to be out and about.
Oh and are you ready for some college football!!!!!! Go Buckeyes!

Track workout. Fall 5k season in full effect. Coach Greg put it to us with a 2 miler at 5k or slightly faster, 2 minute recovery, then 1 mile as fast as you got. Crap.
Stats
2 mile / 12:22 (6:10 and 6:12)
1 mile / 5:57
Even more impressive...jschmitchicago inked her first sub 8 mile. Crushed it, in fact, at around 7:45. And she looked good doing it. Fast is very sexy on her.
Man, that was actually difficult. Its amazing how fast my swim fitness goes. If I don't swim at least 4 times a week, I really drag a** in the pool.
Sadness crept over me today as I left Ridgeland Common after my swim. I think that may be my last outdoor swim of the year. The pool closes after tomorrow. Back to my 9 month 25 yard prison term. Sheesh. Maybe with the wet suit I can get down to the lake front if the weather cooperates.
Run tonight at the track. Wonder what we have tonight. I'm thinking end of the month mile, 1/2 mile set of two. But you never know what Coach Greg has got cookin in the kitchen of pain.
My cycling friends on the Yahoo user group are circulating this little ditty from you tube. If you thought navigating your swim wave was a little crazy....copy and paste the link below and check out this little film via a bike messenger from NYC.

Supposed to swim this morning but got up late. Plus its just been all rainy and cloudy the last two days. Put in a solid 4 miler. Nothing more dangerour than running out and about the same time that kids are driving to school and even worse parents driving their kids to school. Its like Mad Max out there. I'm thinking of carrying one of those sticks with the ball and chain on the end of it.

Guessing at the time as I left sans my Nike time piece. Went out with jschmitchicago but we seperated with about a mile and 3/4 left. I cruised from that point. and circle back enough to add about another 1/2 mile to my run. Like I said yesterday this training program that I am ebarking on is going to be tricky. I am passing the time on my runs just working on it in my head.
So I haven't heard from the Gleukos rep yet but I expect to today. I really like their product. The science behind it seems right and I feel good about the minimalist approach to their ingredients - meaning I can pronounce everything on the list and don't feel like I need a chemical engineering degree to understand whats going on.
