Brick part un: Laid out some interval work. Note to BP: I thought I had the route right but was 17 minutes short on my last interval (93' of 110').

Run
  • 18m
  • 2.45 miles
  • 07m 21s /Mi

Brick part deux: 1.2 hard as I could and 10' CD.

Brick. Why do we call it a brick. A brick is one thing. Why don't we call is a deuce. That way we could say things like "I dropped a deuce this morning." And the rest of us would giggle cause who can resist potty humor double entendres.

Swim

Big churn in Lake Michigan today. Wow. Controlled flailing. That swim beat me up pretty good. It was one of those swims where even now as I'm sitting down to type this over 12 hours later I can still feel all the rocking and rolling and slaps to the face. Glad I did it though. Felt like I conquered something. Or at least survived.

Note to BP: The left shoulder took a pretty bad beating today. The only reason I can figure is a little unorthodox stroke due to rough waters.

Run
  • 49m 28s
  • 7.00 miles

Again my watch is shorting me. Almost a quarter mile. (This is the real distance above.) But its good because I'm pacing slightly fast than my watch says. Really dehydrated at the end. Spitting cotton.

Casual trainer ride. Catching up on my Letterman.

Bike push to tonight.

July 31

In and out to NYC to present to Client and Client Partner. Early morning late night that almost turned into morning again. Crazy night of flying with all the storms moving across the Midwest. With all the AA flights in and out of LGA I played sping the standby list wheel and lost three times. Boo.

I love NY. I know people hate it but I really love the energy in Midtown. Hit a hip deli for lunch with all the deli attitude and everything. Love it. Cabbie made a construction detour before the Lincoln tunnel and I made my first trip in and around Queens. Flying in and out of LGA I got to spy the New Yankee Stadium. From the outside it looks like all the new stadiums these days.

I feel hungover though.

Tired. Cooked. Finished.

Seriously. I'm falling asleep at my desk. Going to have to hook up a Red Bull IV. Recovery day tomorrow but I get to spend it on an in and out trip to NY (early flight in, late flight out). Hope everyone is cool. Looking forward to seeing folks at PP.

Out and back. Nice morning. Put in a pretty good tempo. Legs aren't totally recovered from the race but not bad.

EZ swim. 1000 Free and 700 with PB. Focused on form and technique and being as long as I could in the water.

Bad night to swim at the gym. Hydro fit has apparently become so popular with the older ladies that they have it three nights a week and the classes are large enough to take up three of the four lap lanes. WTH?! Its a "LAP POOL." Its such a pisser. I lucked out and put myself in the far lane so I didn't get kicked out but I did have to deal with an errant noodle from time to time (you think I'm making that up, don't you). The one benefit is that they cause so much wake in the pool its like an OWS.

Updated time reporting from yesterday...Overall 31/140, M 24/82, AG 7/17 (only 6 seconds between 5,6 and 7. Crap!!!!).

Race report is up but its not much to look at. See Sunday for the link.
