PR by something like 4 or 5 minutes on a surprisingly tough course. Once I got some of the race in my legs I started looking for 1:30 but gave to much back in the last 4 miles and lost some focus. I have 6:45/6:50 fitness for 10 miles but not for - 13 yet. I'm pretty happy as I put together my own hybrid 5 week training plan for the race.
Splits:
1 - 6:50
2 - 6:46
3 - 6:57
4 - 6:54
5 - 6:56
6 - 6:50
7 - 6:54
8 - 7:11
9 - 6:55
10 - 7:05
11 - 7:03
12 - 7:02
13 - 6:58
Overall 52/1509

Oak Brook Half Marathon - year two. Generally speaking a well run race other than someone forgetting the timing tags for the "day of" registration. Can't fault the race organizers entirely. A ton of people showing up really late and more than usual race day registrations. Odd. Anywho - prerace prep out the window. They started the race 20 minutes late (????). But once we got going I have to say there was lot of course volunteers and lots of people out cheering. The aid stations were run really well. It was really good to run a race with that much support. What suprised me most were the hills. This was a really challenging course. Some road, some sidewalk, some paved path some crushed limestone - wooded areas, golf course and park. Really nice race.
Major props to Jen for running a 20 mile training run on Saturday recovering on the bike trainer yesterday and then rocking the 1/2 today. Wow. Good to see Laura out there running as well.
