Bike
  • 3h 08m 19s
  • 56.00 miles
  • 17.84 Mi/hr

Hilly and windy!! First loop felt pretty good. Second loop started to show signs of fatigue.

Run
  • 2h 50m 31s
  • 13.10 miles
  • 13m 01s /Mi

Fatigue that set in during the bike showed up here. Sharp pain in ball of left foot started at mile 4. May be "Morton's Neuroma". Have to research it more to find out what I can do about it. Foot felt fine within half hour of finishing.

Swim
  • 36m 16s
  • 2100.00 yards
  • 01m 43s /100 yards

Took a little time to set into a groove and swim straight, then felt really good

I am a Half Ironman!!! Will try to do my race report tomorrow evening, when I get home. But for now, I finished somewhere between 6:30 and 6:40. the swim went good after I settled down and started to swim in a straight line. Bike was tough. Lots of hills and wind to contend with. Run showed signs of a tough bike. My foot started to hurt about mile 4 so I stopped running uphill and would only run the flats and downhills. By mile 9 I was only running the downhills. I did this as my major goal for this race was to finish my first HIM, and my second was to beat the 6hr mark. Once I knew I wasn't going to beat 6hrs and I had a foot bothering me, besides the extreme lack of energy, I decided to focus on the goal of finishing this race, and to do it in a way as to save myself for my next tri, which is two weeks from tomorrow. I have a better chance of gaining points in my series with the next race anyways, so need to be healthy for that one. More later in my race report.

M/S 6X100 well recovered between
5X50 hard-well recovered between
Also did some sighting, right side breathing, and left side brathing practice during the 50s
C/D 9X50 breast down-free back w/ breaths every 5th stroke and concentrate on piercing through the water! Felt great!

AM Run felt really good despite 28mph winds and sprinkles. Short swim tonite, and short bike tomorrow after getting to Owatonna and I'm done until the race. Nerves are definitely on the rise! I'm excited and apprehensive at the same time. Legs are starting to feel quite a bit stronger. PM Swim. Form felt awesome for 50 yds, then could feel it get just a bit sloppy after that. Breathing felt tough at first but came around. Felt much better than I thought I would considering my lack of pool time recently. I can't believe how smooth I felt if I just concentrated on form. The water just seemed to be flowing by. I hope I can say the same about the 1.2 miles on Saturday! One bike ride left prior to race. Training is done and I'm starting to feel stronger. Can't wait until Saturday. Good Luck to everyone else racing this weekend, and happy trails to those training.
