Haven't run this long (over 2 hours) in months, so I took it really, really slow. Even so, faded fast at mile 12. Time to pick up the training.... Wash Park 4x.

Washington Park 2x. Sweating like crazy, and pretty slow. Need to drop weight in the next two weeks, and regain pace.
Nice swim in the backyard.

This was a bit slow, and hopefully I was under the speed limit when I came upon the officers.
Finished 742 out of 1422.
Hot, easy, run.
Finished 571 out of 1422.
Decent open water swim.
Finished 673 out of 1422.
These are preliminary race figures, but it looks as though I finished this thing in 2:53, which is just fine. Wanted to wrap it up in 3 hours, so I managed to accomplish that, anyway. With only three weeks to go before the Half Ironman, I'm in a wee bit of trouble here. Better swim, bike, run, I suppose.

There was one hairy hill on the bike course. It would tire me out to drive up it in a car, so I hope never to see it again....

Well, the final numbers are now in, and I squeaked under a personal goal to do this in under 3 hours, anyway:
- 2:53:07 Total (615 out of 1422, 44 out of 89 in age group)
- 31:35 swim (673 out of 1422)
- 1:43 T1
- 1:25:55 bike (742 out of 1422)
- 1:38 T2
- 52:15 run (571 out of 1422)
- 439 male
Thank goodness I passed that tiring monkey in the last 200 yards, putting me in the top half of our age group, and him in the bottom half. Ha!

Lunch today with Dad (in town from Carmel for first time in two years). After that, meeting Brent and Loren (in from Rockford), then shopping for new dishwasher and console for Jenn-Aire and clean the house. Busy day, I guess.
