August 9

Great little day.  Worked in the morning and headed up to Boulder to register for the race.  Dinner at Joanna Zeiger's house with her family, which was wonderful, then back to Denver to rest up for the race tomorrow!

August 8

Took another day off, this time because of chest pain from bruise and upcoming race.  Hope this strategy pays off.  At least I'll be racing on freshies.

August 7

Very good day in the office, but decided to take the day off from training to rest the injured sternum.  Hopefully this will pay off....

Frustrating, mildly depressed day. Felt good to be back on the road bike.  Off to an Advisory Board meeting for CEO Challenge....

Lair O' The Bear, third day in a row, this time with Kevin & Susan.

Great day in the office, followed by nice little mountain bike run at Lair O' The Bear.  That wraps up tough training before Long Course... now to sort of taperish... sorry, Mike!

Lair O' The Bear for the second day in a row. This time took :15 minutes off yesterday, which was :30 faster than the first ride. Starting to feel more comfortable about mountain biking, but it's still tough.

Upper body & core with Kevin.

Decent day in the office, followed by quick run up to Lair O' the Bear.  Learned that if I'm going to fall, it's much better to fall into the mountain than away from it.  Seems obvious, but had to learn the hard way.  Getting faster, and more confident.  Heading back up there tomorrow, for three in a row.

Went back out to Lair O' the Bear, and this time rode it without incident. Great! Clearly need to get better and more confident, but this was a great start.

First full day in Denver for over a week, and managed to fit in a nice little mountain bike ride, along with a great deal of catching up on sleep and recovery (really needed). Hoping for a good week, followed by a decent race even without the proper training routine.
