HR much higher than should be. Didn't feel like I was working that hard

Beautiful morning for a run. Although isn't every morning a beautiful morning for a run? I am ready to roll for Pewaukee.

Still battling some fatigue.  Think it is a combo of things. Never took recovery week after HIM, then was battling a bug last week (think I beat it), and I think this humidity makes everybody sluggish. So I have dialed it back this week as kind of a recovery/taper thing. Hope it works because I need to pick it up again next week.  weather/time permitting I will try and jump on bike tonight.

UPDATE had a nice little ride. ended up playing cat and mouse with a guy out there. Like most races, I would power by on the uphills or inclines and he would get me on the downhills or flats. I did get him on one flat area where he took too long admiring the backside of a lovely lady rider. I don't blame him, but you can't win the race that way.  Oh and I got stung by a bee. That stunk.

July 7

Run
  • 30m 10s
  • 3.50 miles
  • 08m 37s /Mi

run started out stiff and slow, but got quite comfy once I got going.

So at the lake last night two ladies approached me in the water and said I looked like an experienced swimmer. (HA I knew they had to be newbies) They asked me how far the sprint swim was for TFC. When I told them that it goes around the lake, they seemed in disbelief and a little scared. I told them of my first tri swim experience and just told to stay calm and swim. They thanked me for my advice but I don't know if I helped or not.

Swim

OWS
5x 200 sans (wet)suit

Sure has a monday feel to it today. Most likely do a swim tonight (you know in prep for the likely du this weekend)

UPDATE Headed out to lake for a ez swim. Got bright idea to go without wetsuit, which was fine (surprisingly) except I had to work harder just to get this paltry pace.

Holy Sweat Buckets!

Had so much fun running in the mid-day heat and humidity yesterday, thought I would try it again. Weather man says dew point was about 70 (pretty moist) and it certainly felt  like it.  Expected a slow pace and sure got it.

Kind of in a battle with myself as I try to train for my remaining tris and try to train for the fall marathon.

July 4

Run

  • 3.10 miles
  • 07m 56s /Mi
Let's see:
Fighting some kind of bug all week. Check.
biked 40 miles yesterday. Check.
Up until 1:45am after going to see Rush (and inhaling lots of smoke) at Summerfest. Check.
Hot and humid in the mid-day sun. Check.
Sub-par results. Check.

That's ok, had fun and that's what it is all about.
