2013: My Second Season
May 11
May 10
On the spinning bike. Easy to moderate pace. Trying to work up a sweat to get rid of the fat roll I grew in Minnesota last week.
Masters Swim practice. First time in the water since triathlon April 15th. I felt better than I expected. DId warm up and drill, and then they set up the pool with buoys for an open water practice. Had a mass start with lots of elbowing, and I borderline hyperventilated for the first 5 or 10 minutes. I was able to talk myself down and relax, finally reaching a rhythm.

Warmed up 4 miles and cooled down 6.
1st official time trial by the Bluegrass Triathlon Club. I did not expect big results, as I have been taking it easy the last few weeks. However, I got the same mph as the training time trial 2 weeks ago (21.5). This time, it was 4+ miles longer and also windier. Felt pretty good but did have issues with a cramping stomach. If I can fix that I should be able to do better next time. And I should have my tri bike by then. It's supposed to get here today! ANyway, I was 14/ 22 altogether but 2/4 women. The lady that beat my is a beast and can hang with some of the best guys. She also bikes about 300 miles a week. She's pretty awesome.

Another urban ride. The stoplights and winding bike paths do slow me down, but wow, you can't beat the scenery. Almost all the miles were along the river, creek and various lakes- all while staying within the city limits of St. Paul and Mpls.

Don't let the pace fool ya- this was one tough ride. One brutal 2 mile climb plus lots of other hills. Our tri club puts on a monthly hill challenge up this climb so we got in a little practice. Also, hit my fastest max speed 42.2 mph.
Thought I was gonna get to test out the new tri bike today but it needs some minor work (cable replacement and derailleur quick fix). Going to get it back Monday so have to wait a little longer. The suspense is killing me lol!
Oh- today's elevation. Not sure if only Strava users can view
