2013: My Second Season

August 6

Looking like another post-race rest day.  I'm not really sore but just completely exhausted.  We do have our weekly time trial tomorrow, so one more easy day before jumping back in will probably do some good.  Also, my front racing wheel arrived today!  I went with a set of SRAM S60's, which I decided were the best I could get for my budget.  I also have a set of Michelin Pro Race 3 tires and new tubes on the way.  Hope to have them all here and installed for next week's tt.  I finally beat DH on the bike leg of a triathlon, so he's not too excited about my upgrade, lol

OK, so after I exited the lake last night the nose started running like a freight train.  I never fell asleep last night because it was so bad, just running and sneezing.  After a long morning ar work I picked up some allergy meds and going to try and nap, then hit the sack early tonight.  I guess we'll make today a rest day and go into the sprint tri tomorrow on fresh legs.  Hope I'm not allergic to water!

Organized OWS in lake- each loop was 925 yards. About 40-50 people, diamond-shaped course. Wetsuit first lap, then went without it second lap.

Just LOVED this workout.  Apparently, the local tri club organizes OWS every Thurs. night at this beautiful lake in the mountains.  They set up the course with about 5 buoys and lifeguards, so it's very safe.  This was my first time doing OWS with other people in a lake so I was a bit nervous.  But, I was able to relax more than I ever have in a swim.  Not sure if it was the calm, clear water or the peaceful mountains I saw every time I took a breath, but felt like I could keep going forever.  Was able to settle into a 3 stroke breath pattern and just enjoy.  Even had a couple people drafting off me, which made me chuckle (I'm very slow and not a great sighter).  Confidence is much better now heading into Saturday's race.

Wore inov8's.  Legs feeling fantastic, despite a few hard days in a row.  Going to take it easy into the sprint tri on Saturday.  I'll be using the race as a workout, since it will be my first OWS sans wetsuit and it is an afternoon race in the heat.

Tuesday night time trial.  I have a new goal of 23 mph and came pretty close tonight.  Garmin read 22.9.  Also, would love to catch my hubby and getting closer.  He was 10 seconds faster than me tonight with a 26:07; I had 26:17.  There was also a woman 2 seconds faster than him who won the tt for the females.  Maybe my race wheels will give me those 10-12 seconds!  Results (time and mph)
