No longer a triathlete, but time to get in shape!

Easy spin this morning.

I'm embarrassed to say I haven't opened the box on my new bike yet.  I just figure since I can't ride it until I get fitted at Final Kick, why bother?  But now my plan is to get it set up on Sunday and get to Final Kick next week for a fitting.  I will post pictures.

It looks like my and SUE will have new rides for the Cape Henry DU!  :)

Yes, that is purple in my graph. :)  Actually all things considered the swim wasn't too bad.  I was lacking some swim endurance, but I didn't sink like a brick either.  I spent most of the time doing drills.

Crazy work schedule for the next week or so.  However with any luck I will get in a trainer ride tonight and again tomorrow morning.

Easy trainer ride tonight.

Got out for a recovery run. I was still sore this morning, so I hope this gets the lactic build up out of my system. If I didn't do something today, I could see a downward spiral occurring. I was becoming a little too complacent with this taper/recovery thing.

I've done a lot of thinking and essentially I've decided to blow up my current training plans. I don't have the God given speed to BQ in the near future, and running marathons for time puts way too much strain on my body. So, I've decided that running needs to find a balance in my training life. My ultimate goal is to become an IronMan and 8 months is not a lot of time to build my bike and swim base/endurance to where it needs to be. It is time to start thinking like a TRIATHLETE who wants to become an IRONMAN, instead of a marathoner who dabbles in triathlons.

SEE UPDATED GOALS!

October 31

Back home. :) I am still a little sore, but that is to be expected. Because I love the taper so much, I am actually considering running the OBX Marathon in 12 days. My friend wants me to pace her to a BQ (3:45). However, I'm not quite sure I have a 3:45 in me just 2 weeks after MCM. Oh well, I will continue to 'recover' and make my decision in a couple of days.

I am working on my race report and hope to have it complete later today.

Bike arrived today. :) :) :)  I can't wait to get to Final Kick to get it set up.  I would like to use it for the Cape Henry DU on November 18.

My (typically) very long race report is up: Marine Corps Marathon

Great race through mile 23. I was averaging a sub 8 pace to that point. The last 3.2 miles took something like 33 minutes. Oh well, great race - highly recommended! Today was PR by 40 seconds. I need to learn to stop getting greedy as I am sure I have the sub 3:30 in me with a smart race. Full race report when I return.
