Really good swim tonight.  2,000 meters, plus some drills.  :)

I did get my bike on the trainer last night with the new tire.  (Lord help me if I ever get a flat in a race.)  I promise that I will really ride it tomorrow night - NO, I'm serious!!!  Really, you have to believe me!!!  Ok, I'll try.  :)

Other than the swim, crap day.  Time for a beer...............

Ok, so it is official. MCM will be treated as a training run for fun only. :) Today I was longing for the good ole' days when Sunday was for sitting my fat ass on the couch watching football all day. But NO, I decide I need to be fit, and today it was not fun! The run started out normal enough at a nice easy 9 flat pace. About mile 10, I started to feel lethargic and a little dehydrated. I had my fuel belt and was taking in some liquids, but it just didn't feel like enough. Mile 10 - 12 was a little slow 9:30's, but not too bad. Then around mile 14, the wheels fell off. I had nothing left in the tank. Honestly, I would have quit then if I wasn't 6 miles from my car. I struggled through the last 6, with plenty of walking. Oh well, it just goes to show that you cannot expect to perform long when you don't run long.

As a result of getting a little late start and my slow run, I made Sue wait like an hour for our swim - sorry SUE! When I finally did get to the Bay, the wind kicked up some pretty nice waves. Bumpy ride today. :)

The new plan for next weekend is a 50 mile ride (yes, I said ride) with Sue in the hills of Williamsburg. So, I don't think I will have time for a long run for the next 2 weeks. My new motto is "What happens at MCM stays at MCM". :)

On another note, I finally went to the bike store to buy a new tire tonight. It is still flat from the race 2 weeks ago! I will change the tire in a bit and will no longer have an excuse not to have green in my training graphs.

Also, while I was at the bike store I looked at the Fuji Aloha 1.0 Tri Bike - I like! :)

Plan was for an easy run at marathon pace (flat 8's). I ran 100% by feel and ended up a bit faster than I wanted. I need to spend some time dialing in my marathon pace. Nothing else today. Swim tomorrow. 20+ run on Sunday, followed by OWS with Sue.

Nice weather = nice run. I have to work late tonight. Hopefully I will get out of here in time for a swim.  Swim tonight.  1,500 meters, plus a few sprints.

Cool weather is good for running, but not great for getting in and out of the water. I spend part of the day in a "dunking booth" for Habitat for Humanity. Let's just say I spent a lot of time in and out of the cool water and cool air. Boy, did my employees have a good time! Some of them can throw. I wish I had my wetsuit. :) At least it is for a good cause.

Got some pictures up from recent races and today's fun in the dunk tank. And no Kim, I cannot count this as a swim even though I spent plenty of time in the water. :) I tried to place a link here, but couldn't figure it out. Oh well, check my album if you are interested.

Yes, that is actual training you see in my training log.  With any luck, I will get some purple in the graph tonight.  Swim tonight was 1,500 meters plus drills.

Good run at lunch.  I never really red-lined it and my legs didn't loosen up until mile 3 or 4.  It is amazing what 2 days off will do combined with cooler temps.  I could get used to running in weather less than 90 degrees and low humidity. :)

I think I found my final TRI of the season.  It's a sprint outside of Richmond on Sunday, October 8: Giant Acorn Triathlon.  It is within driving distance and will not conflict with my girls soccer.  So it meets 2 out of 3 of my requirements.  It's not an Oly or HIM, but at least it has an open water swim.   I figure I need all the race experience I can get.

Forgive me Joe Friel and Hal Higdon for I have sinned.  It has been 2 days since my last training session.................

OK, back at home (1 day early) and I will get back at it tomorrow.  Plan is for run and swim tomorrow with 20+ mile LSD run on Sunday.  If Sunday's run goes well, I might try to run MCM for time.  It looks like my TRI season might be over. I am having a hard time finding a race that fits my requirements.
