No longer a triathlete, but time to get in shape!

Interesting run at lunch.  The weather alternated between torrential downpours and bright sun.  In both conditions, the heat and humidity were present!

I think my body was trying to get me to 'listen' as my legs were screaming the entire run, and my knees and back joined in the fun (both new pains for me).  It sounds and feels like a case of classic over-training to me.

This got me thinking about Saturday's race.  Before today, the only thing I have really focused on is the swim.  Lord knows I haven't paid any attention to the fact that I need to bike (fast) for 38 miles (just look at my logs).  Anyway, I finally started to add up my projected times for the race and I am guessing a total finish time of 3:20 - 3:30ish depending on the swim.  WOW - I haven't really looked at all the distances back to back before.  That is close to marathon expenditure.  I guess I better focus on getting my body ready (rested) for Saturday's race.  I know I need to swim as much as possible to keep my muscle memory, but I don't have too many chances to swim due to my travel schedule. Other than that, I will just take the rest of the week as it comes and prepare myself mentally and physically comparable to marathon weeks.

Decent run tonight.  Nice easy pace until mile 4ish, where I decided that I needed to catch the runner (cute girl) in front of me.  She was moving a good bit and it took me almost a mile to catch her.  Like I said - decent run, even though I didn't get her digits.  :)

Busy week ahead.  In town tomorrow (run & swim) and then off to Orlando followed by Philadelphia.  I managed to schedule a meeting up in Philadelphia on Friday, so Saturday's race is a 'business trip'.  :)  All I need to do is find that bike of mine.  ;)   I am cautiously optimistic for Saturday.  I feel like I am swimming better than I ever have.  Saturday's ocean swim did tons for my confidence (wetsuit included).  Now I need to put it all together on race day.  I don't have any time expectations.  I just want to have a good swim (with no time on my back), followed by a decent bike (knowing I haven't put any real time on the bike in August), and finish strong on the run.  We will see.  Saturday will play a huge part in my time-line (or lack there of) for IMCDA.

Paced my friend during the race, plus 1 mile warm up from parking lot to start. My friend's first half mary - 2:07! Very nice! :) I will get a short race report up later.

Also met all sorts of cool BTers over the weekend. :)

Off to finish off the swim / run challenge. Need 45 minutes in the poolDONE!

Nice ocean swim with BTers.  Rocky ride getting out there, but very enjoyable.  It was almost like I knew what I was doing.  :)

Went to the gym to swim, although I would have been better off swimming out my front door.  OK swim, but still nothing like I had it going last week.

Better swim tonight than yesterday, but I still hate it! ;:)

The thought of trying to PR on Sunday was kind of selfish.  Of course I am going to run with my friend.  Besides, I am sure I will have much more fun!  This way I can have a beer at the hasher 'water' stop. :)

Decent run at lunch.

Hmmmm. I am considering going fast on Sunday. I told a friend that I would pace him to a sub 2 half mary, but it looks like it will be nice racing weather. I think I can go sub 1:40 under the right conditions . I've never posted a good time at this race due to the normally humid conditions. Decisions, decisions.......

Shhhh - don't tell anyone but I hate swimming! Went to the pool this morning for an early swim. After staying out of the pool for a week, I swam like a stone.

The air was T H I C K at lunch.  There might be a storm coming.  ;)
