I took my bike out to a parking lot today (with the kids :)) and practiced getting in and out of the bindings. I'm a little more confident about it now! I'll just need to be cognizant of stopping for awhile until I get used to the slippery base. My butt hurts though- I think I've bashed the same spot 3 times now, and it's bruised!!!
I signed up for the corporate challenge, so I'm committed now. My big goal for this week though is to get back to the pool.

Got out on the newly upgraded bike today! It felt great while I was moving, however no one told me that the shoes are slippery on asphalt-which means that when you unclip and put your foot down, your foot might slide out from underneath you, and hypothetically, you might start to fall over into the street and have to catch yourself on the car stopped next to you at the light. And, hypothetically, the woman driving the car might look at you quizzically, like you are a total idiot.
Sigh. I just want to live through my rides! It was fun, though :).

So I still haven't managed to squeeze a workout in (keep pushing me though- the motivation I get from people is so important, even if I've been a slacker :)).
I picked my bike up yesterday though and had the fitting- it was great. Ben did a whole bunch of measurements, including angles of flexibility; apparently I have a slight leg length discrepancy. I ended up spending 2.5 hours there! I ended up with new cleats (Look), new shoes, and a new saddle (I was slightly pleased to find out I have ridden enough to wear out my old one!). He tweaked my seat position and height, and my clip on aerobars.
The only problem was when I took it outside the shop to try it out... I have been riding with SPD cleats, and they are a little....different. Ben had recommended clipping in to the left foot first, so I did that, couldn't make my muscle memory change, and promptly fell over onto the cement with my foot still in the cleat! I hope I provided great entertainment, and of course NOTHING makes you feel like a dork more than that!
Sigh...time for more time in the saddle. Friday night I'm on call, then 2 weeks of better life, then 2 weeks of floors with my last 3 call nights!!!
