hurty. details later.

I started getting pretty sore at about 22mins, and I was just chugging away in low z1. I tjought about quitting in 10min back at home, and wanted to go back to bed. I was mentally trashing myself, and making up plenty of reasons to give up. Instead I refilled my water and stretched for a minute and remembered that I shouldn't be shuffling... shuffling is not running. i don't shuffle. so I stepped up the pace and kept going, and i think changing the stride helped. At some point, I felt pretty good moving more quickly. it didn't last too long, though. Evetually I started to labor again and my groin and knee were pretty achy. I stopped after 1:15... falling 30 minutes short of my target. i should be covering closer to 15 miles!!! i hate cutting sessions short. there's so little time left to bank quality workouts.
so... that's where i'm at.

first loop of 3.75mi in 32:26 @ 8:39 pace at HR 133.
second loop of 5.65 in 44:09 @ 7:49 at HR 147.

drainer. grrr.

Saw Dr. Doug last night for ART again.  He said that the problem area has moved a bit, and that change is good! if things stay the same, it means we haven't accomplished anything. I could definitely feel during my run yesterday that the irritation was caused by something in my upper calf area.  He confirmed that that's where the tightest spot was... and then proceeded to ART the hell out of it.

I told him that my plan for my "long run" on thursday was to run 20min up to the gym, then do elliptical/water-jog for the next hour or so, then possibly run home - total of 1:45.  he suggested that i just run as long as it's comfortable. he expects results to take place very quickly. so that's promising, but of couse, i'm cautiously optimistic.

i much appreciate everybody's well-wishes. i'm absorbing all the positive vibes i can, trying to keep my head on straight.  i've worked too hard to get this far, only to slide into a funk because of this setback.

Timesheet is up for Flat as a Pancake Century ride:  http://www.moonlightramble.com/pdf/FAAP2008.pdf

Overall, I'm pretty happy, especially considering how quickly and easily I recovered afterwards.

5th overall

3rd fastest PM section.

2nd most consistent ride overall (smallest difference between AM and PM pace)

2nd shortest rest period between AM and PM loops (only 3 minutes to pee and refuel!)

And if you look at it, the 2nd/3rd place people were obviously sharing drafting privileges. So they don’t count! J

Day off, hanging out with the fam, lounging by the pool, mowing front and back yards, etc. Got an AWESOME massage that hurt so good. Grilled chicken for dinner. Had a beer, and icecream as well. Ahhh.....  :)
