TODAY AT BT

Spent most of the day 1 foot away from my computer screen debugging.  

We had a programmers meeting today.  Good news on all fronts, the programmers committed a bunch of items the night before to keep us on track.  Today we also got the banners online, about 80% finished.  A few bugs, a few more enhancements.  

I also let all of our beta testers test the entire site.  Yikes, I'm expecting a deluge of things I have not found myself.  At this stage, it's all debugging which goes fast...we have no new pages to do.

We have decided to keep our MAY 17th GO LIVE date.  We will be ready as we will ever be.  It will be a chaotic weekend on our part, hopefully not as bad on your end.  There will be plenty of issues when we go live and plenty of slowness... just to prepare yourself.  But come Monday, we should have all major issues resolved.

This is one redesign that, the only one, that is freaking me out.  It's very different and I hope it will be a game-changer...put us back in this decade.

...I'm still finding little bizarre bugs late with a couple rum and cokes in me.  It's not often that I go through the site as a 'guest' - but it is needed.

Worked up some more bugs and modifications for the programmers.

We are now under 2 weeks for the new site.  I am holding this deadline and so are the programmers.  Everything needing to be done is spec'd out for the next two weeks.  

I am at the point where I am second guessing a lot of stuff.  I need to believe in the changes as it came from data, not gut or instinct.  It came from the users.  I was speaking to my wife yesterday...second guessing myself...and the take home message was "If you give a beginner triathlete a choice of two websites, the current BT and the new BT, which will provide the better experience?  It's undoubtedly the new site.  I HAVE TO REMEMBER THAT.  

I also have to not try to get pages '100% perfect' at this stage as trying to get them totally perfect will take too much time and we will miss another target launch.  There will undoubtedly be issues with pages when we go live, that is the time to make them 'perfect.'
