Yup, that's right I finally was able to swim :) Easy/steady swim, just getting back into the groove of training and trying to be careful with the leg. While swimming sometimes I start kicking like usual and the knee hurts just a tad (nothing bad at all it is more discomfort which I guess is part of the bruise/fracture). Overall it was a great swim but man, my lats/shoulders are super tired. Swimming + walking with crutches = ouch!

LMAO, look at the pic after the race with shannon and trixie (look at my face ;)) No wonder the fracture didn't hurt that much at the time!

well it seems no swim for Jorge again, but this time cuz I was able to get the appointment with the ortho moved to today at 3pm. So I am skipping the swim to leave work early. I hope I can get some good news and to be able to swim and maybe riding the trainer/aqua jogging cuz I am already feeling fat and out of shape! :)

BUENAS NOTICIAS! I can definitely swim AND try riding the trainer to see how the leg feels, if there is no major pain/discomfort I can go ahead and ride regularly :)  I also can start doing aqua jogging maybe as soon as next week, YAY! I'll have another follow up appointment in around 4 weeks to find out if I can maybe start running again, woot, WOOT! (I might even have some hopes to race Timberman although a bit slower ;))

Thank you everyone again for the inspires, PM and email, you are the BEST! :)

In particular thanks to Sue for taking the time to review some of my MRI pics and results. (you rock big time!) and because of that I'll try to do some swimming tomorrow, if I find a pool open, yay!

above you can see the pic of the fracture. the yellow arrows are pointing to the fracture on the tibia, as you can see the fracture went vertically all the way from top to bottom across the bone. The good thing is that it isn't displaced and it should be easier and maybe faster to heal. Anyway, do you guys know if it is true that taking more calcium on my diet might help to speed up the process?

I guess the MD who saw me last Tuesday is gone for the long weekend holiday, LMAO! Luckily I have that appointment with my friend otherwise I would have waited until next Tuesday (at best) to hear my knee diagnose… isn't that special! I am not sure how but I’ll look into filing a complaint because apparently this clown’s vacation is more important that my knee. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt and let’s hope for a second that I have nothing major; still it would be nice to know what I can or can’t do no? Anyway, my knee is definitely NOT ok, cuz it hurts when I walk and it feels just weird when I do certain movements. Oh well, against my nature I am been kind of pessimistic about this and I am just afraid that the high expectations I had about this season will be compromise due to inconsistent training and I end up having just another ok season instead of the breakthrough kind I’ve been hoping/working for…

Whining alert... IT IS OFICIAL, it seems I’ll be out of action between 4 to 8 weeks as I have bone bruising with superimposed non-displaced fracture in the tibial. :(   It seems that when I ran into the lake at the beach start my right leg landed funny and the top bone of the leg impacted the bottom one fracturing a piece of it (ouch! No wonder it hurts a lot ;))

Although it sounds bad ass that I completed a Half-ironman with a finishing time of 4:28hrs on a fractured leg, I would’ve trade a DNF or DFL and be able to train *sigh*
Funny thing is that the PCP never contacted me…how FUCK UP is that! I’ve been walking on it for two extra days I could’ve got avoid doing so. I have an appointment next weekend with a orthopedic surgeon to discuss how long he estimates I’ll be unable to train and what sort of things I would do. (Maybe swimming)
Anyway, all my June and July are out and probably I’ll have to skip timberman cuz I doubt I’ll be in shape for it. Maybe I can focus on racing Cancun as a prep race and focus 100% on the 70.3 Championship… Regardless this freaking bad luck slump is not going to stop me from trying my very best of becoming a competitive triathlete :)

PS. Do they make carbon aero crutches? ;)

Tic... tac... tic... tac... still waiting on the MD to discuss my MRI results, WTF? I am calling him at noon if I haven't heard anything back from him.

On another news, my body is been feeling kind of blah. I guess it is because of the knee issue, been tired from the race, allergies and the lack of exercise. whatever it is I've been sleeping a lot and I been having a constant headache for 3 days! I think I need to pay attention to my diet again cuz leading to FL and during the race I ate a lot of carbs and food I would normally don't eat. I need to start using my Jack Lalanne power juicer and drink my daily spinach, carrot, celery, wheat grass and apple, YUM! :)  Also later today or tomorrow I am heading to finally get a new car. I am still on the fence about what to get, originally I wanted the Honda element but it just seems too much for me considering I live in the city and won't drive much at all. I kind like smaller cars hence I am considering the Honda Fit but we'll see...

nice swim, arms still a bit fatigue and knee is hanging in there

*sigh* no offense to my MD friends, but  the fact that a MD can't return your calls and let you know what the hell is wrong with you is so unporfessional and it plain sucks. the lab that took my MRI called me early AM to let me know they faxed my results to the MD. At noon I called the MD and got the nurse and I was told they got the results indeed and the MD would call me later today... 8PM and I haven't receive any calls, of course now the clinic is closed and I'll have to wait until tomorrow. Again that´s so unprofessional and it blows. Fortunately I got the originals and I am meeting a friend and sports MD tomorrow to get his diagnose and discuss ways for me to recover as soon as possible.
