Got to the pool to find it closed.  It was scheduled to close M-F this week, but guess they decided to close it a day earlier.

None of my group could make it today, so I decided to ride the CT instead.  Could only mentally handle 3 hours.  Watched a couple of the IM DVDs to pass the time and get some much needed motivation.  Now it is time for lunch!

Week in Review:
Time:  8+30
Swim:  2600 yds
Bike:  68.12 miles
Run:  16.25 miles
Weights:  0+45

Not a great week, but since I am coming off a cold last weekend, my coach gave me two off days this week and cut the workouts some to try to let me get better, which is about the only thing that went right this week.  I feel much better, just not happy with the workouts this week.  Well, I guess the other thing that is going good is my bet with Dale....by the scale this morning, I am down 4.9 pounds in one week.  The caveat to that is that I am sure it has a lot to do with me being dehydrated from yesterday's long day in the sun.  Tomorrow will be a better measure of the weight loss.  Not to mention that we put guidelines on the "bet" to ensure that we go about this the healthy way...and the big rule is no more than an average of 3 lbs loss each week.  I am sure I will be a pound or two heavier tomorrow, so I may be right at 3lbs for the week.

Starting weight (7/31):  187.5
Net loss (1 week):  - 4.9
Goal:  170

Got my early morning run out of the way in order to beat the heat, then went and spent the day in the sun playing golf.  Not too bright am I, but it was fun!  First round of golf in damn near 9 months.   That has been the one thing that I have been missing since I started all this training.

Just looked at the results of the Steelhead 70.3.........My coach WON!!!  Way to go Fish!!!

I have a swim on the sked for after work today.  Swim is still on the sked for today, but I am moving it to tomorrow and using tomorrow's off day today.  Decided that playing with Champ would be more fun!

Let's see how my competition is acting in this bet.  I send him a package containing

  1. the Runner's World issue that tells how triathlon is growing and how it will actually make you a better runner, including some great traithlon basic tips to get people started.
  2. Also included in the package is an Ironman DVD of the 25th anniversary year.

What I get from him today is a package containing  numerous bags of Potato Chips, dip, cheez-whiz, brownie mix, etc.

That is just sad!!!  Game on big guy!  Guess you didn't have to go to the store to buy this stuff did ya?  Just raided the cabinets at the house.  Now your poor child will have nothing good to eat!  :(

Back at it today.  Whoo Hoo!!!  Have PT and a 40 min run this morning then a ride tonight on the CT.

Coach said either to do a 20-30 min EZ swim or nothing at all.  Couldn't get to the pool this afternoon, so nothing it is.  However, I decided it was a good day to get caught up on the yardwork.  Did that instead.  May do a bit of weights tonight.

Feeling a bit better today.   We will see what the day holds and try to get in a workout after work.

Notes of interest:

  1. May have to cancel on the PrairieMan HIM due to other requirements.  Looking for another race to add to its place.
  2. Still dropping weight, albeit slowly, but still eating like crap, so I wagered my good friend Dale on a bet to see which of us can get to 170 first (and in a healthy way).  Thing is, this guy eats much healthier than I do and has always been able to drop weight when he needs to.   Gonna be tough on my part to stay competitive in this bet.  The wager itself has yet to be determined.
  3. The friend, Dale, that I speak of is my ex-roommate from the early years in Atlanta.  The one that lives in Chattanooga now and the one that took the pics during the race last month.  He has joined BT and is now training for tri's......he took the bait people....now he is hooked.  Drop by and give him a welcome..sending him sone cake or something bad to eat if you can!  ;)  You can find him in my friend's list @ "Dalestri"

July 31

And the month was going so well with no unscheduled off days...until yesterday.  Dammit and not to get in the scheduled 4+45 hurts too.  I did think seriously about doing a short workout (I mean, real short..10-15min) just so I could change the color, but I am better than that.....I think!  ;)

Today is supposed to be an off day, so I am not sure if the coach will allow me to make-up some of the lost time from yesterday or if she will want me to rest for this week.  I am pretty sure she will have me conserve my energy for this week.  Guess we will see later today.
