This One's for Cadence

Yes I actually made it to the pool!
Basically swam 4 x 500, except that the nose piece of my goggles snapped about 440 into my second 500 so went back to the locker room to get my back-up pair. Tacked on an extra 100 at the end to make up for the lost 60m.

AM run. Wanted to get out there and run before our doc's appointment, to see if working out made any difference to the baby's heartbeat. In Exercising Through Pregnancy, the author mentions that when a baby feels stress its HR can decrease and if it goes too low it can be dangerous. Ever since reading that, I started to get a little nervous that my runs were negatively affecting the baby. But the HR was 155, which the nurse said is really good. Info can be a double-edged sword. Its good to know these things, and reading the book has made me a lot more comfortable with working out and knowing the benefits of keeping up with it through pregnancy, but the littlest thing also makes me nervous. I just don't want to do anything that could harm the baby in any way. Today's appointment was a good reassurance.
Solo ride on the SRT. There is a bunch of glass on the wooden bridge getting over to the SRT, so had to carry my bike a bit to bypass it. Luckily I noticed it while running on the trail last night, so I knew it was coming.

Hot and humid. Ran on the trail, mostly in tree coverage. Ran 2 miles in the open sun and I was definitely slower those miles. In general, though, I am slowing down now. I'm not looking at my watch at all (haven't since finding out I was pregnant), just running on what feels comfortable. I don't care about my pace; just happy to be out there and staying active. It feels so good to be working out.
Had set the alarm to run, but woke up to the sound of light rain. Reset the alarm for more sleep instead of running. Truth be told, I probably could have still ran but I figured the extra sleep couldn't hurt. Turns out it did end up pouring around 8 am, so I would have been stuck in that. Lifted instead so that I could avoid the nausea.

Quick run with Tim. I wasn't motivated to go, but it felt good to move a bit today. Was very nice to run with Tim, and we chatted most of the way.

Long run from the house. Pretty humid out, but the temp was nice.
August 24
Easy ride with Tim. Felt much better after moving a bit. Rest of the night felt good.
Any morning I don't work out, I always end up feeling really lousy. I decided to sleep in because I have not been getting a lot of sleep lately, but of course now I feel super nauseated instead. Since being pregnant I am nauseated every morning when I first wake up, but once I start with a workout it subsides.
Hopefully riding after work.

Lookie here, I was actually able to run 9-minute miles today. Achilles felt a little tender when I started, so I decided to run to the Haverford track and run as flat as I could. 2 miles there, 4 miles on the track, 2 miles home.
Upper body only.
Woke up feeling much better this morning. Bonus: it was a gorgeous morning for a run! Felt so good to not come home dripping in sweat.
My parents had tickets for the 1:05 pm Phils game, so they stopped through for dinner on their way home. Had a nice time with them.
