Epic dreadmill run.

With a 60/5 brick scheduled Saturday and a practice triathlon Sunday, I decided to take a vacation day today to get my long run in and do some other stuff. Problem came when I woke up this morning to rain, wind, and tornado watches.

Went back to bed for an hour, then decided to head for the gym to get it in on the treadmill. Carefully loaded my Ipod with a three-hour plus workout playlist, packed three water bottles with GE and water, grabbed some gels, and headed out.

Panicked when I got to the gym and couldn't find my ipod. I've never done more than an hour on the treadmill, and hated doing that. Without the music and podcasts, it was going to be misery. Dug around in my bag for a while, managed to find an old radio with headphines, so at least I could watch and listen to TV.

Only choices were CNN Headline News or Ellen/The View. Not wanting to surrender my man card this early in the week, I stuck with CNNHN. Five times. Finally, about 2:20 in, I noticed The View had been replaced by Jeopardy. It was nice to have a little mental stimulation to get me through the home stretch. I could almost hear Weird Al singing...

Anyway, managed to finish and, with some creativity on the speed control, managed hit both the three-hour mark and the 19-mile mark simultaneously. Readings on the Garmin varied only slightly.;)

Showered and changed clothes. Found my ipod at the bottom of my gym bag.

Practice triathlon with tri club on Jefferson Island at Rip Van Winkle Gardens. This is going to be a great venue for triathlons, nice swim in Lake Pegneiur, ride on the local highways and a run through the nursery. Beautiful landscaped grounds, nice facilities, gumbo after.
